How would one use this foot to attach a gathered skiet to a bodice? Like how do you calculate the gathering to make sure it is gathered to the exact size of the bodice?

Oh yes, it comes in handy when shirring with elastic as well. Once you get the hang of it, everything is smooth sailing.

But howdo we use this in applications of putting a non gathered to a gathered pattern piece together, where you have to make them fit? None of the tutorials that I have found have shown that.

I just got this foot and followed the directions, but it's not really gathering for me. Not sure what I am doing wrong. 🤷‍♀️ EDIT: It will gather plain quilter's cotton, but it doesn't want to gather linen.
