I'm an American who has moved to Quebec and need more of these videos. I'm currently taking lessons and have been for some time but it doesn't always stick. The stories you use to explain the language helps with memorization - it's also fascinating. I did not know there were two stems of french here. I also did not know the relationship between past maritime/nautical language and current day use. I can see why embarquer and démbarquer was used so much, especially by those living on l'île d'Orléans. Back in the day, those living on the island had to get in a barque to have their grain milled on the mainland. Imagine having to cross the St Laurent, back and forth weekly to get your grain milled, just so you can make bread! Time consuming and dangerous! I would love it if you made more anglais/français videos! Nice work.

Great video in English explaining Quebec words! I'm from Norway and I've always been fascinated by pretty much everything that has to do with Canada, including its two languages English and French. I took some French classes in high school, partially because my aunt is from Switzerland and my mom can speak French fluently so they often have conversations in French together and I'm totally lost listening to them most of the time, save for the odd word here and there that I understand haha :) I've enjoyed your French videos with English subtitles and and you did really well wth this being your first video in English, I'm looking forward to more in both languages! :)

Wonderful idea. At my age and living in Toronto, I have no immediate need to learn French but I always felt I should acquire some proficiency in the language of Quebec. In my days, growing up in Europe anyone planning a trip abroad which in Europe often means a couple of hour drive, would try to learn at least some basic phrases in the local language. It was meant to be polite and show respect for the local culture. This was before the “all inclusive” tourism and often involved hiking through the countryside. I have subscribed to your channel and hope to learn Quebec French instead of the European version which seems to dominate all around. I am very likely to travel to Quebec or New Brunswick while there’s a fat chance I will be exploring the Lazure Coast anytime soon. So, thank you for creating this channel for people like me. I have to finally realize my long delayed resolution.

Hello, I appreciate your videos seeing as there is very little material in English to learn the way people actually speak in Quebec. I have started a project to make a grammar book in English that explains Quebec French. As I learn, I will add to it. I wondered if you would like to see it (although, if you would, I'm not sure where the best place would be to put it so you can access it).

Ben oui, je serais curieuse de voir ça. Bien que la grammaire soit vraiment pas l’aspect où le québécois diffère le plus du français métropolitain, y a quand même quelques trucs à dire. :)

@@maprofdefrancais Ok. I just have a few things to fix up and then I will post a link. I hope KZbin will allow it.

@@maprofdefrancais Hmmm...I tried posting the links twice last night. They're still not showing up in the comments section. I guess KZbin won't allow it.
