another some people overlook is the quality of your coax, i switched from std rg 213 to M&P Ultraflex 10, over the 100m drum end to end 1.4 dbs loss, my setup is 2 10m pieces 1 underground and 1 to my tbeam also the coax plugs the new M&P Evolution compression plugs them with the coax i noticed 2 S point deiffernce on my friends humble end fed antenna in a built up area, me i regularly get 1 to 3 S points difference to him and we live 3 miles apart, that difference alone can make or break a ATNO or DXCC :) :), as for the portable antenna try the DX Commander Dx Expedition multi bands , i know that Haydon VK4 and Roly ZL2 use them with good results

Good advice… I was first licensed in 2020 and am at 179 confirmed DXCC using only SSB and CW. Waiting on about 10 more with Bouvet and some current new ones and also some paper cards that need checked. That has me at about 200 or so. This is with 100 w and a 40m EFHW as a vertical. My buddies all say “we can’t compete with the beam and kilowatt club guys” but in my experience it’s all about propagation and having your butt in the chair. Keep calling til you get through. Hone your skills and timing. Keep track of when bands open to different areas. It won’t get you an ATNO every day but it definitely helps. Have fun and don’t be discouraged.

Good morning Steve my first year on the radio is coming up very soon 500+ contacts 69+ countries in my log all via my 😅FT818nd 6W through my basic antenna array. Plan for 2023, sit my intermediate license here in uk 🇬🇧 and lift my delta loop in the air working vhf/uhf digital modes and maybe a dabble with FT8 on HF bands. All the best M7CVK Tony
