Thank you for another extraordinary video of Helen’s. I used to tape her rerun broadcasts in high school. But all these years later, I still don’t know what her medium mixture was. I think she once said it was (maybe?) 1/3 linseed oil, 1/3 turpentine and 1/3 Damar varnish. Does anyone happen to know? And did she use this same mixture for every phase of a painting?

Thanks for the questions. You may have noticed Helen occasionally saying during this lesson things like '...add a little medium' or '...thin it with a little medium'. If she mentions this while glazing, she's likely referring to the 1/3 Linseed, Turpentine, and Damar mix you mentioned. Otherwise, she is probably using just turpentine. I'll include some reference URLs where Helen discusses mediums in more detail. One important note: Helen didn't seem to take precautions to protect herself from these harsh chemicals. Always prioritize safety by wearing nitrile gloves or similar and take steps to limit direct contact with paints and solvents. I'll add those URLs about mediums so we can hear directly from her. Thanks for posting and for the continued support of the channel.
