+Petra P. His pronunciation of "älg" is completely wrong, actually. The letter Ä/ä has the same vowel sound as the vowel sound in "hat", I have no idea why he pronounces it like an A. The other phrases sound correct, though.
@EyelessEntity6 жыл бұрын
He's emulating a northern accent.

@Floral_Green5 жыл бұрын
Beaah I was under the (disappointing) impression that ‘ä’ and ‘e’ are the same sound in Swedish; is that not the case? Also, what’s the deal with the ‘a’ sound - is it a long [aar] type of sound as found in Norwegian, or a shorter one?
@Beaah5 жыл бұрын
@@Floral_Green no, it's not the case. Ä and E is different. I think theres videos here on yt that describes it. What do you mean with the 'a' sound? As in the single letter? It's a short sound. Like the English word "ah" sort of.

Erik, thanks so much for making these videos. I have been studying Swedish for about a month now and have a question regarding phonetics. When you say words like "hej", "hej då", "du", "bor", "i", or "fyra", the sound almost sounds like it's coming from the back of your throat. Is this purely an accent? Or is it common in the Swedish language? Should I be practicing pronouncing those words like that? Thanks again!

Did you voice the "g" at the end of "Jag" and the "t" at the end of "det" and other words intentionally or was that for the sake of teaching? Or is it a regional thing? Asking because this is the first time I hear someone say it like this but I'm still learning so I'm gathering all the info there is. :)

Hello Dávid. You are right, it was for the sake of teaching - extremely clear pronunciation and as it is spelled. However, at least in the following lessons, I should have started to pronounce it as it is pronounced in daily life, the way you're describing. Without g on jag, without t on det, and "är" more pronounced like "e". Good luck learning! Glad you found this channel!
