My personal list of reasons why grapple : 1. I'm good at grappling. 2. My training partners aren't.

I'm not sure if you were inspired by my comment in another video, but this is EXACTLY what I wanted to see. I come from an empty hands martial arts background, and I really appreciate the extension of range this gives to swordfighting. Another concept you can go over is the taichi swords exercise where you're blinded in a bind. It emphasizes bladefeel

Interesting take on the range, being able to just touch and not control the should seems far away for Leibringen. When I think of wrestling the body I think of using my hips, not my hands and a should touch is still a full step away from hips being close enough to engage. Does this interpretation assume the opponent is also closing measure? How do you account for that extra space? Im about to watch the other videos in the series so I apologize if youre about to explain all that. : )

Hi, good question. For entering into the wrestling it is not necessary that the oponent is also closing in (altough it helps). The arm-lengthed distance is also used in wrestling when shooting in on your opponent, or in Judo when the gripfighting starts, just for example. To really complete the actual takedown/throw, you have to be as close as possible, but to start the wrestling itself, an arm length distance is enough.

Bit of an old topic, but how do you counter the absetzen?
@Dreynschlag4 жыл бұрын
For example with a "Winden". However, timing is also the central issue here.

@@Dreynschlag I really appreciate the help. You guys are definitely one of the top KZbin channels of HEMA.

There is some backstory going on here where Gregor and Gedi hold each other at swordti0 point, steal each other's sneakers and then fight to get them back, as of yet unsuccessfully.

Should I always avoid wrestling if the guy is almost double size of me?
@Dreynschlag2 жыл бұрын
No, if you are the surpreme wrestler go for it. But if both are equal, better stay on the outside. Size does matter ;)

The cats only exist on KZbin. As for the real fighting movements against many people, they are secret, my friend ... you learn them because a school only has no KZbin

Look at their ears. If they look like they’ve been chewed on don’t wrestle them.
