Here former Penn State Wrestler Geno Morelli hits shows a basic elbow post setup off of his opponent's shoulder post to a high-crotch takedown.
I personally feel that the high crotch is the best place to start when it comes to learning leg attack takedowns. It will teach you all of the basics from developing the standard penetration step, learning your range, shooting through/beyond your opponents, swinging your trail leg to help bring you back to your feet, and stepping across to finish. I think this setup is the most natural place to start given that opponents will often reach for posts on our shoulders, which sets up this elbow post to clear our opponents, head, and arm defense!

It looks good but I have some questions. 1) hardly anyone does shoulder posts in BJJ. Could it be done with a collar tie as well? 2) how to prevent getting in guard.

No need to go to your knee all the time either. Single and double legged work fine on your feet too.

I recommend taking a few Judo classes. My Master sensei was Jorges Medji He taught Gracies & I got the chance to put Walid Ismial in a double submission. I was young slick & tougher than woodpecker lips way back then.

@@Genomorellimma it's a great sport! My Sensei would always show real world applications . He was from Brazil and used to say " You get an arm lock, you TAKE THE ARM!!". He meant that end it because once he's out of pain he WILL COME BACK AT YOU! He was right, I learned the hard way.

@@k00lkane My instructor showed me something to avoid it recently; he said when he's going for a double-leg, it's almost like you're trying to turn up and around your opponent. I don't know if that made any sense to you, but it really helped me when avoiding guillotines from the double-leg.

Your instructions are terrible, if anyone who seriously trains sees you doing that they will prepare everything they have in their arsenal to sprawl and defend that, the whole point of a high crotch, and or double leg takedown is its spontaneous, if your training with a bunch of children sure it will work but any adult your competing with will see what your trying to do

@@Lureyliit depends where you are after takedown: halfguard (if your opponent was fast enough) or side control. If its halfguard - try to pass it. If its side - ensure that you control opponent. Than look for better position or go for submission if you sure you can finish it.
