In this video, khru Miki Chidchaya teaches how to structure sentences in different tenses; past, present and future. She also corrects common mistakes made by most learners such as adding "แล้ว" [léaw] to form a sentence in the past tense. Not only that, she will also guide you to speak more naturally like a Thai person by using structures used in colloquial language that textbooks do not mention such as using the word "เดี๋ยว" [dǐaw] in the beginning of a sentence to imply that something is going to happen in the near future. After watching the video, you will be able to form sentences in the past, present and future tenses correctly like a Thai person would.
We have a lot more videos coming up on topics that you definitely don't want to miss.

This is a very succinct lesson on tenses. I think I "know" this stuff internally (having lived in Thailand many years) - but having it so clearly explained is super helpful. Well done. And thanks.

I understand that "wai" ไว can also be used at the start of a sentence to form the future tense. Is this correct?
@mintymus
@mintymus 7 жыл бұрын
I think it means "until", wait for something to happen in the future. For example, something like ไว้ค่อยเราคุยกันใหม่ Wai koy rau kuy gan mai, with the meaning of something like "Until we talk again in the future, wait until we talk again. Hopefully they respond, because I'm a little confused also.

could you help to explain that at 6:41, you use รถคันใหม่ but not only รถใหม่ while รถ = car ใหม่ = new? Thank you for your help. Ps: Your video is really helpful.
@pickupthai
@pickupthai 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. "คัน" is a classifier for cars. We usually follow the structure of "noun + classifier + adjective" to form a noun modified with an adjective. Thus, รถ [noun] + คัน [classifier] + ใหม่ [adjective] = "new car."
@kittenastrophy5951
@kittenastrophy5951 4 жыл бұрын
For that example, you may say just "Rot+Mai" new car ,without that classifier/qualitative noun in spoken language or daily life. the listener gets the complete message. addition of the classifier considered more formal or written language or stress of this specific object in some situation but not all.

can u tell me the difference between " Mai" , "Mai dai ", "Mai ao" and "Mai Thawng"
@pickupthai
@pickupthai 6 жыл бұрын
"Mai" is the negative particle "not." "Mai dai" means "cannot" when placed after a verb and "did not" or simply "not" when placed before a verb. "Mai ao" means "to not want (something)." And "Mai tawng" means "to not need to (do something)."

I don't understand why you wrote ฉันพูดภาษาอิตาลีไม่เป็น at 1:50. Shouldn't that sentence be ฉันพูดภาษาอิตาลีไม่ได if the goal is to say "I can't speak Italian?"
@pickupthai
@pickupthai 3 жыл бұрын
You can express it either way but "เป็น" is more common for this context. Feel free to watch our video lesson on how to express ability in Thai for clear and detailed explanation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3XbdX2FmJ2Uias

2001 how to say in passa thai song phun neung could be 2100
@Schnarrtyp
@Schnarrtyp 4 жыл бұрын
2001 formally say "Song-phun-Ed" but "Song-Phun-Neung" is acceptable to avoid confusion with 2007 which say "song-phun-jed". 2100 should be say "Song-pun-nueng-roy". The word "roy" means hundred. But somtime thai ppl may be said "song-pun-neung" without "roy" for this case informally and it will make some misunderstanding not only foreingner but also Thais. Oftenly we have to ask them back what the number did you mean.
@kittenastrophy5951
@kittenastrophy5951 4 жыл бұрын
@@Schnarrtyp I think no thais say "Ed" ending of counting numbers other than numbers smaller than or equal 91 kao-sib-ed but the Royal Thai Navy do in Vice versa.
