It’s amazing how many of these are the same in Australian, we even have rhyming slang. For many years I thought Australian copied many things from cockney but it’s interesting if you look into the history of the Australian accent, many of the original convicts were poor cockneys. Over time the rhyming slang became unique to Australia, so it wasn’t copied it evolved from cockney. So to ‘take a look’ in original cockney was butchers hook, and down under it changed to captain cook. I think if Jason S or Michael Caine or Danny Dyer etc were to try the Australian accent they would probably nail it, and it’s not easy to do well

It would make more sense if you called it an English accent. By calling it a British accent, he would also have to sound Scottish and Welsh. As England Scotland and Wales make up Britain.
@FreddieFraggs9 жыл бұрын
All those parts of the UK that you mentioned are places in England. Therefore they are English accents. Not British. America has many different accents and is classed as the American Language because America is classed as one country. The welsh especially so, do not speak English, they speak welsh. Welsh is their first language , which is a completely different language to English. You are saying is that the welsh language is British. That is completely wrong. I suggest you listen to someone speaking Welsh. So.....the Welsh language is guess what......Welsh. NOT British. England Scotland And Wales are all classed as seperate Countries. Just like America and Canada. I speak English because i was born in England. And i definitely do not speak Welsh. So as i just correctly pointed out. There is no such thing as a British language.
@FreddieFraggs9 жыл бұрын
fooloof wow you spoke to two welsh people? wow Well fool i live in the Chester area which is classed as North Wales. I know many Welsh people from all parts of Wales. Most people do speak Welsh, not English. They only speak the English language around English people. lol at mug. It is you who are the mug. Do you know what the word United means?! It means together, have a look in the dictionary you might learn something. You seem to not understand what a simple word like United means. You sure need to learn what English words mean before you start an argument in English. It is a Kingdom made up of three countries. And guess what...its united. Plus where according to my logic, did i say i don`t think there is a United kingdom? You don`t know how dumb you sound. You are digging yourself further into a hole. You should at least bring a valid argument. All you sprout is stuff that does not make any sense at all.
@FreddieFraggs9 жыл бұрын
***** 1) You did not read what i said. I said, around the Chester area. Which is North Wales. I did not say i live IN Chester. 2) I bet you just googled that 1 in 5 speak it. In fact that is correct for the younger population. Most of the older population though speak Welsh as their main language. Even if it was true that most do not speak it, welsh is their own language, and by saying it is not their language is just stupidity.

It is very similar to Brazilian Portuguese. We Brazilians. we transform the "L" into "W", type: Brazil, we Brazilians speak "Brasiw". The "H" is mute in the Portuguese language, be it in Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, etc. Our English teachers, often to help us with the sound of "TH", teach us this digraph with a "V" sound. Here, in the Brazilian Northeast, we also use the "Double-negative", type: ""Não quero, não!" - "I do not want no!" Strong hugs, and congratulations for the excellent accent class and English language!
@i.fernandes5 жыл бұрын
The double negative isn't right. "Não quero, não." is not a double negative it's a redundancy, what you you mean is "Não quero nada." that's the double negative, not wanting nothing is wanting something.
