This generation of brilliant actors is disappearing. There’s only a few of them left like Carol Burnett and Julie Andrews. Rest in heaven, Maggie Smith.
@micca90320 күн бұрын
Yeah I don’t know what it is but it feels so much worse losing this particular generation of actors. Maybe it’s because they’ve been so active in recent years, the previous generations were much more likely to retire.

This makes me so sad because I realized it after Maggie and it just- ugh. I grew up watching these actresses and actors even after they were much older than their iconic roles , but those roles and movies raised me. Seeing them even older now and departing now is just like, a pang to my heart. They were my comfort in my childhood. Even now, still are. Ugh! IM CRYING NOW! So sad. :(
@kellydalstok890014 күн бұрын
That’s what people said about the generation before them, but there is always a new generation of brilliant actors, like Benedict Cumberbatch, Anya Tailor-Joy, Florence Pugh, and Maggie’s son Toby Stephens.
@micca90314 күн бұрын
@@kellydalstok8900 No I don’t think that’s true at all. They just rolled a 5 second clip at the awards ceremony and some people openly said they didn’t even knew some of them were still alive.

I once met Maggie Smith in the Parco de Principi swimming pool on the Via Veneto in Rome. I was attracted by uher lofty Queenly manner and beauty. She was sad because she was splitting up with her husband Robert. She played with my children and we all fell in love with her. It was sixty years ago and we all have been her fans ever sincehave been her. She was four years older than me. Hope when my turn comes I can match her. Val Lewis. 😊

I think Maggie Smith did aging the right way as actor by never getting her face done or smoothing out any of the wrinkles in her face. Even the tiniest tic of a facial muscle is the difference between an Oscar worthy performance and an average one. She’s 40 here and she looks amazing.

In a time of revolting reality stars who are revered as celebrities, as well as untalented actors/actresses, I take comfort in this time when actors had true talent and could entertain. These current celebrities will be soon forgotten and no one will be watching their videos 40+ years later (unlike Carol & Maggie!)
