I love how the moment of confusion takes the classic double lift transpo and makes it mysterious. Definitely gonna try this.

So simple but so beautiful. According to me, more important than sleight of hands, the interaction with the audience.

D, that bit near the end about, an effect being about the end result and not whether or not if it's easy or difficult was important for me to hear. I find myself getting wrapped up in trying to perfect challenging moves wherein a participant would have not even the slightest care how my pass went over lol. Thanks for sharing as always!

Great tutorial and advice bro. I love learning sleights but have come to the same conclusions about keeping things as simple as possible for an actual performance, it seems the straight forward answer from a risk management point of view plus the less attention you need to pay to sleights the more focus you can put on the performance experience. This is a great example of that and just the way you've put it together and delivered it makes it that much more powerful an experience for the audience

It’s funny ; I watched this video sitting in bed next to my wife and I assumed she heard everything, (but as usual she didn’t care about the magic video I was watching) , so I immediately turned and said let me try this and showed her the trick and it worked perfectly. She had the look on her face when I handed her the card and I had to ask what the problem was and she said “ that’s not my card” with a not impressed look on her face , so I asked her what it was and looked through just like he said and when I put jogged the card she thought she was holding and asked her are you sure it wasn’t the six of diamonds she turned over the card and had a great reaction with some name calling . It was great. An easy trick with a great reaction.

This is a good trick to put a heckler in his place. After you reveal his card he will claim you messed up. When he proclaims his card is different than the one you put in his hand he will look very foolish when he turns the card over and realize s he is the one who actually messed up.

My first trick was the one where you secretly flip the deck over with only the top card face down. After they slip their card into the middle you magically reveal that their card mysteriously flipped itself over. Seems silly now but I enjoyed it at the time

You're so right. Simple is ALWAYS better! I've seen so many over-engineered tricks. If the simple method is functionally the same in the participants eyes who cares if you pulled off some knuckle-busting sleight. The same is true of over-gimmicked tricks that could be performed with simple sleight of hand to the same effect.

Uncle Madison, this is the first trick! Cool I tried it, but forgot it... Thanks for remembering👍🕺 С любовью из России!!!
@petterilepisto59712 жыл бұрын
I've been reading about Edward G. Brown and his magic tricks. I realized you both share the same idea that it's not about you (the magician) but it's always about the participant and the effect they experience. It doesn't matter how the effect is achieved, whether it's simple to do or not, what matters is that you create the possible effect. And if you can do the best possible effect the easy way or the hard way, always go for the easy one!

Daniel Garcia has the opposite approach even suggest talking to the audience a couple minutes before doing the effect, depends on the person
