I really, really appreciate this. You have a way of pointing out a very simple tweak to a problem that makes the flip so much easier to grasp mentally. Going to faceplant and grind this with your tips in mind. Thanks ❤️ jackie chan and spoderman would be proud of you.

Kyle, I watch a lot of your videos and I absolutely love them! I’m sure that a lot of people can agree with me on that but I need help! I am trying to re-learn backflip flat but I am only 14 and cannot jump high and now I have bad knees because I have this thing called osgood schlatter in both of my knees and I feel like I am not going to get enough height and land on my knees but it would hurt really bad for me. Please help.
@noahsong29395 жыл бұрын
For the jumping problem, I would suggest calf lifts with weights, and jumproping. Jumproping can help SO much with your height. As for your knees, I have absolute no clue. Try different oils, stretching, physical therapist, but that's random. GL bro

Train jumps. Start with explosive squats(slow on the way down, fast on the way up), then move on to jump squats. Add some weights if you feel like it. Do a bunch of box jumps, and try to make the box jumps as light as possible. What I mean by this is try to get as high above the box or whatever you're jumping onto before landing without bending your legs too much. Eventually, start doing straight-legged box jumps. On the back flip side of things, practice your tech on tramp, or into pit, or onto a mat, or even a bed until it's perfect. What I mean by this is that you are blocking for as long as possible(but not too long), tucking tight, flipping fast, spotting the ground , and landing straight up. When training, practice with a pair of ankle weights( recommend 1lb in weight). This will force you to try harder and make your backflip better a lot faster. On trampoline(and into pit), start doing 2 things: first, start over rotating your flips, while keeping perfect tech. Try to be able to land on your back while tucking and blocking for as long as you were before. Second, practice lock-knee backflips. This means that you do a backflip with essentially no jump. It's basically as difficult as ground, and forces you to work on flipping really fast. On pads or on a bed, just do a bunch of them. Do like 20 a day with the ankle weights on for a month. This should improve your backflips and your confidence. As for tech improvement, there are four categories: the jump, the block/set, the tuck, and the landing I have three tips for the jump. #1: Push through your toes. What I mean by this is that during your jump you should focus jumping and pushing through the tips of your toes. This will help you with fully jumping, and not cutting your jump short. #2: Sync your arms with jump. This will help set you up for your set, and also give your jump more momentum. #3: This one is pretty theoretical. (I learnt it from my physical therapist) When you're jumping, imagine your shin and kneecap rolling over your thigh bone and pushing to full extension. This is the most ergonomically efficient way of jumping, and is the healthiest for your tendons. The set is pretty simple. Sync your arms with your jump, and throw them so that they are above your head but not yet rotating your shoulders back in their sockets. once your arms reach this point and your legs are fully extended, bring your legs in to a tuck as explosively as you can without letting your shoulders drop. To do this, spot an object in front of you during the jump and keep staring at it between your legs until you're looking at your crotch. You need to make sure your shoulders don't fall backwards during your jump/set. In order to do this, imagine as you jump that there is a wall behind you that you'll hit if you go backwards. Really let your back round as your legs come up in order to make you tuck tighter. Now we're on the tuck. For the tuck, bring your legs up explosively(as mentioned above). When you grab your legs, aim for the top 40% of the shin. This is the sweet spot of control vs. tucking tightness. Upon grabbing your legs pull them in as tight as you can. Try to make your knees hit your chest. The landing is the easiest. Once you are staring at your crotch(during the set), you're up side down. You can now look behind you and spot the ground. Make sure to get your legs underneath you and land as softly as you can to minimize injury and pain. I would recommend doing ab exercises that open up your core, like hanging negative sit ups(as slow as possible on the way down. Also, make sure to regularly visit a physical therapist in order to heal quicker and gain more control over your body. kai flamingo has an amazing backflip, so here's a great study video: instagram.com/p/BknXidFH8lw/? I hope this helped!

I would love to see the Snapu WITHOUT the cart entrance, I get that you need height for this. But the awesome thing about the Snapu, is that it looks like a 540 kick, that suddenly ends in a B-twist.

Is there an age limit to start tricking I'm 27
@SUPERLAME45 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm glad that to hear that you're interested in tricking! To answer your question, no, I don't believe that there is an age limit to tricking; especially not at 27. I think it's fully possible for you to be able to learn to trick, but I know that doing things like this becomes more difficult as we get older, so you might have to work a little harder to maintain flexibility, power, and overall fitness to perform well. There may even be tricks that you can't do because your body just won't let you, but I think those will be very far and few in between. I think as long as you practice safely and consistently, and don't massively overestimate your skills at any given point in time, you'll be well on your way. That doesn't mean to not step out of your comfort zone though. Good luck!
