The fingering! It is all about efficient fingering. I learned to play this song years ago from music (yeah - it was free, you get what you pay for ...) with no fingering notation so I was on my own - and as a result of bad fingering choices (and lack of a super smooth tremolo!) I have always struggled to play this smoothly. This video has shown me how wrong I've been playing this piece, in terms of fingering. So happy I found this, and even though I'm now having to un-learn years of bad fingering habits, the payoff will be worth it, because I love this song. And I'm now motivated to work on my tremlo.

Enseñas muy bien, A mí me costó mucho trabajo lo del octavo traste que luego te ibas al séptimo con otro maestro que no voy a mencionar su nombre, pero que no explicaba bien esa parte porque enfocaba sólo la parte de los trastes, en un pequeño tramo pero no enfocaba toda la guitarra completa como lo haces tú y no podía tener yo referencia para hacer esa pisada. En verdad me exasperé tanto con el otro maestro que cerré mi computadora de un solo golpe de la desesperación. Qué bueno que te encontré. Me queda la última parte de este video, es decir a partir del minuto 17:26, que ya no seguí porque tengo molidos los dedos y mañana le sigo, pero definitivamente quedo agradecida contigo porque explicas muy bien. Used to play the ornaments like yourself, then I changed it to pmi+ornament (instead of pam+ornament) and sounds much more cleaner. Main reason I think is that each beat ends with index finger, so even in a different pattern as the ornament is, you still ending your beat with index finger, otherwise it kinda feel incomplete or cut in half. This just my personal appreciation. Thanks for the good work!

Do some classical guitarists spend their whole life for a tremolo that matches Tarrega's Recuerdos de la Alhambra while others spend their whole life trying to properly articulate Capricho Arabe, and meanwhile the guy wrote both peices, and every video on youtube you see of people playing these masterpieces get thousands of dislikes? Thanks for the instructive video. However, I have a major problem with this, and other pieces that I have tried to learn over the last 45 years. I was watching your left hand fingers closely. I cannot bend the top joint of either my third or fourth fingers, at right angles to the strings. As a consequence, they are always angled down towards the first string, and their pads constantly mute the strings underneath them. I don't know if you know of any exercises that can increase their flexibility. I have tried a few over the years with no success. Good luck.

Great Tutorial ..Really need better nails .Have been working my way through it.over a lot of years and can muddle my way through most of it.Sometimes not all 3 fingers hit the B string Then I watched Anna Vidoich (maybe wrong spelling and she played it with I.M.only.Thanks again .I live in hope

This is a great lesson. One can learn from this. As feedback: the repeated statement of which note is being played ("F at the 5th fret etc) is redundant and confusing to listen to. The fret number is sufficient; one can see from the sheet music what note it is. Without the sheet music, there's no real need to know the note name while learning; it just makes the lesson more difficult to follow. "Third finger at the 5th fret" is more quickly assimilated than "Third finger playing the F note at the 5th fret"... especially when that is done over and over again, dozens or hundreds of times during the lesson. Other than that, excellent teaching method. (Thank goodness for the pause button though!) ;D

its not that hard.. if your tremolo works its easy:) i learned it first with only 2 fingers.. if u are fast enough u can play easily with 3 fingers.

@@wmrodoe I agree Nicao. Due to a hand injury years ago my 3rd finger doesn't work well so I have no choice but to perform tremolo using only the first two fingers. It works; I was pleased to even find a video here on KZbin where this piece is played using 2-finger tremolo. But even for the average person, physically there is an issue with the 3rd finger that doesn't allow as great a flexibility as between the first two fingers. (For an example of this lay hand flat on a table. Can easily lift every finger except the 3rd.) I find the same holds true with tremolo; that 3rd finger just seems to resist. I knew a guitar teacher that taught only 2-finger classical guitar method because of this; everything he played was PIM instead of PIMA or PIMAE.

Genuine question tho, my index finger flies out too much when I tremolo cause my thumb wants to come down, how do I fix that?

Practice slowly using Staccato. Relax your index finger and use your brain to visualize your index finger hitting the string and going back to neutral. Plus practice on the B string, it'll training your fingers to use smaller strokes since you don't want to hit the high E string. Hopes this helps, took me 3 months, 10 minutes a day to develop the technique. Will take many months to years to master different tones of tremolo.

I agree with Joseph and Alex, and will add that if your index finger flies out too much, I would guess you need to change the position of your hand and angle it more by moving the hand up (toward the nut) and curving your fingers inward more. This will prevent your index finger from leaving the strings too greatly, as the knuckle position will leave less room for your finger to move outward. (Hope that all makes sense.) : )

in my opinion .. what your teahing is for intermediaires who are confortable with the tremolo and the left hands chords changes so the talk is useless as we can see the right hand and the left slowly
