When you are 59, it s far more difficult to do a rtf than a drop in. It took me 2 years to manage to succeed in doing it on a mini ramp (skating sometimes twice a week, and not skating for 2 or 3 weeks) as when I was 34 I felt back trying to do ot from a 5 feet mid ramp. I had to print deeply all the steps in my mind and practice a lot to make them totally automatic and not to be driven by this strong mental "barriere". It tought me to control my mind when I got negativ thought of failure the second before and while attempting the trick. I am so proud and gave me such confidence. I feel that it will open me doors to many other tricks. 3 days ago I also managed to do it on a 2-3 feet "park mushroom" flat on the top (it was way more scarier). Many thanks to you Jon!

This trick scares the shit outta me. Way worse than my first drop in. Every atom in my body fights it. My 8 yr old learned it in 35 mins. At 42 I'll take my time. Inch by inch.... Love the video's!

Yeah it’s proper hard !! The binary aspect is similar to a drop in, but going in backwards adds another level for sure !!

learn it yet? At the time of you posting this, I'm not sure if I had even started skating yet! But I have been, and it took me about 2-3 months to comfortably and confidently do a rock to fakie. Some people get lucky and learn it in just a few hours just by trying it out a few times!

Yehhh did my first rock to fakie today. Your vids definitely helped a lot! Thnx for the inspiration and thorough instructions John!

Awesome instructions and great job getting decked all the way! What size wheels are those and what brand trucks? Have any wheel bite problems? Using risers?
@JonBishopSkate2 жыл бұрын
Hey dude 54mm Wheels, 159 Mini Logo trucks, no bite issues ?!

Thanks for the video. What type of wrist gaurds are you wearing? Are they helping against palm bruising?
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, They are Demon D30 jobs. They are great for palm protection and the sliders work well to dissipate the initial impact

I have so many issues with this trick. I can do the trick on small ramps but then loose it every time I try to go bigger. Cannot commit. I think my issue is that I do not poke my front foot out the way you do. I like to deck the board just as you do, but I stand on the front foot way too much during the brief stall. Result is I need to shift my entire body back again and my gut tells me not to do it.... So I should stay inside the ramp but somehow that is hard for me to do. Grrrrrr.

Nice one dude, keep at it !! It’s a feel thing, once you get the feel of locking the back wheels up to the coping and falling back in whilst clearing the front wheels, you’ll be able to bang them willy nilly. I fell off a lot trying to get the knack, and it took a while, sounds all perfectly normal what you are experiencing !
