Katie that is quite a difficult skill to master. I've practiced it holding to the perimetral bar or the rink for for so long but now I can do it freely and love it on both sides. Still working on the heel-heel styling out.. Thank you for your video I do approcciare them a lot.

Thank you for the bit about doing it on outside edges to go in a straight line! I’ve been trying to get that for ages and I’ve been convinced it’s having inflexible hips that’s stopped me. It would be nice if it’s my edges instead! I’ll have to give it a try on my next quiet indoor skate (soft landing for the inevitable fall!)

I agree I much prefer to do these types of tricks indoors where it’s slightly softer haha. It’s a really awkward position on the outside edges.

hello dearest skatie .. it's been a long time I try but I can't. I make a quarter turn ... what should I do. why does this happen
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
This is so common with the spread. Watch that hip doesn’t come around. Make sure you’ve got a bit of roll and lean on the inside edges. It takes a lot of practice, you’ll get it ⭐️⭐️💕💕

Do you have some information or advice on how to put more speed on the roller skates? My skates are so weak
@Skatie3 жыл бұрын
What surfaces are you normally skating on? You may need a different type of wheel depending upon if you are skating indoors or outdoors. What skates do you have and have you already changed the stock wheels?
@shaunsilvestre87303 жыл бұрын
@@Skatie Oh I was using an 4x4 wheel and I use it outdoor I was planning watching you and finding some information about how to put a speed on a roller skates! I was hoping you can help me
@katieparker-green26523 жыл бұрын
It might be a good idea to watch my 9 tips video as that talks about wheels and different hardness and also where to use them. Generally harder wheels are faster but not suitable for outside skating. Outside wheels if you want speed I use around a 85A
@tracyheath60762 жыл бұрын
Hi Katie, Guess this is a good place as any to ask.. Can you do a spiral or arabesque video and teach the correct way to do it... were debating at the rink what is the correct way? You know where your flat back and leg lifted directly behind or torso and shoulders to kinda to the side and raise leg . oh and please show how to do backwards. We gotta have all those babysteps. Thank you.
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
I show an arabesque at the end of this video and explain the leg position. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZPPfWaghZmsqac
@tracyheath60762 жыл бұрын
@@Skatie yes but my question is if jts correct for a flat back also instead of the way you do in this video? I'm probably not using the correct words in my question.
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
@@tracyheath6076 oh I see. Both ways are totally acceptable. I think it depends on what’s most comfortable and level of flexibility etc. If the free leg is up to hip height then definitely classed as an arabesque. We always used to totally lower the torso too but the more modern way seems to be more of an arched back.

Lay back ina Bauer is soooo beautiful! But I can't even do a spread eagle circle yet, I do part circle nearly the size of a two-foot spin and then the wheels and the inertia disagree about where should we be going 🤣 Meanwhile I practice stretching 😁
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
Love the explanation! 😂 I know exactly what you mean! A bit more roll and slightly less V position feet should make that spread a little longer. Honestly, it’s the most awkward position so make sure your body is warmed up before you try it, you may get more hip movement that way. You’ve got this xx ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@luablau Жыл бұрын
I came back here after watching the side surf video and thought I should do an update! I don't train it too often anymore, but now I can do a wide circle and sometimes even keep it straight for a little while, and I can go back to skating forward instead of turning to backwards ❤
@Kornkitt3n2 жыл бұрын
whenever i get into the sidesurf position i start to wobble back and foreword until i usually fall foreward onto my hands, would leaning on an inside edge help this and straightening up my legs a little ? i tend to get into the sidesurf with very bent legs cause it makes me lower to the ground..lol
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
Definitely lean in the inside edge, having a little momentum can really help with the balance too. Try to go into it with a little bit of roll.

Lots of skaters have the same problem. You can make a tighter V with your feet it just means your circle will be smaller or you’ll do a little spin instead. Still a great practice. Do what feels right for you and listen to your body xx

Do you need to be flexible doing this? I can’t even put my feed in the spread eagle without skates on haha. Anyways thank you so much for the tutorials, they’re helping me so much! 🛼
@Skatie2 жыл бұрын
It’s possible to do the move with your feet less turned out. It just means the circle will be smaller. It’s a pretty uncomfortable position for the hips, be patient with this one. You may need to do some warm up exercises to loosen the muscles and avoid straining them. . 😣 😪
