Lauren.. Forgive me if i break community G lines but.. You, yes you, have taken my Guitar Virginity.. I’ve been trying almost daily as an OAP learner for a year now to play chords etc which i can but to actually put something together using them to let me jam/play has been somewhat as the sex pistols would say.. Vacant.. lol! I watched this vid a few times after my shift and blow me away i was before long putting the E the D and the A together and could repeat them over and over with different strumming pattens .. My mix came out of the washing machine sounding like a cross between Jonny be good and something else tangled in there but it matters not.. I can now for the first time ever day my Gibson Cherry has taken at last thanks totally to you.. You’ve saved a frustrated soul here and possibly … possibly… launched a rock / blues stage career too.. PS.. Bless Taylor Hawkins his family and the Foos Family too.. We will miss all he brought into so many of our lives.. Thanks Lauren.. i’m triple subscribed to you now.. perhaps you can show me/us what can be developed from this lesson what we can do to get more from it.. A lesson for NOODLES and friends maybe.. Not on a different fret. You can play those chords on different frets but not with the open string.

What I struggle with is only hitting two strings or even four on a D chord. I can't seem to get the hang of not attacking the strings. I strum like a barbarian.

An observation, every youtube tutor ( every ) talks far more than they actually perform the sound or pattern that they want people to recreate. I get to the end of all these youtube lessons and I'm still left wondering what was that I was supposed to do. 1+2+3+4 is pointless unless you can hear the sound in your head first, in fact I pick up strumming patterns easier when I just listen to someone demonstrating a guitar make. example something like: youtube; Gibson Hummingbird studio 2019 walnut burst

Sometimes you have to go back and loop things. We often don't do things for very long because we actually watch how long students pay attention to our lessons. It's less than you think! In a lesson, I would drill this over and over and over again. But when I do that on KZbin, if I show the example more than 3 or 4 times, students leave the video. So we would rather students wat h the video, learn from it, and then go back and repeat what they need. No online tutorial is perfect because everyone learns differently. My suggestion to you, if you're confused, would be to be patient and go back and watch a video 2-3 times to really grasp the materials.
