@@kylehutchinson5016Yep. The word "dinosaur" wasn't invented until the 1800's. Everybody all over the world referred to all types of large scaled beasts (land, sea, and aerial types) as one word or another for "dragon" in their own language. So yeah. It is indeed very possible back in the day that people here and there caught glimpses of these "large beasts" before they completely became extinct.

My grandma came out of her house looking for me, then pointed to the sky saying: see there's a dragon in the clouds. I looked up and saw a snake like creature (black outline) gliding within the clouds. Below the sight was an small river about 20 metres away from my position. Then my grandma quickly pulled me into the house. My memory of the image may be getting frail but I'm sure that's something extrodinary that I'll never forget.

In Serbian folklore belief in dragons is very detailed. There are beings similar to dragons and are their nemesis called "Ale(plural)", and actually they fly in the sky and bring storms and hails, as well as it is said here for Chinese dragons. Dragons are connected to the rivers and can live in old trees, but they can also turn into a man, and like that take themselves a wife and have an offspring. This offspring are usually grown to become great heroes, and have some strange bodily characteristics, like scales on some part of their body, a tail, or strength and magical powers, and usually the word Zmaj (dragon) in their name. There is a verse in one old Serbian epic poem it goes something like: wherever are there Serbian heroes, many of them are born of dragons, and many of them are brought up by vilas (fairies).

When I was a young kid, my late grandmother used to tell me about a villager's experience of seeing a massive, snake-like creature that had once slipped across the river near her village. The storms and severe rain had at that point caused the riverbed to flood. Around that same time, that villager noticed a massive, snake-like creature moving quickly down the river from the mountainside, which caused the village to flood. The mountain was there up until today, but no one has seen that creature again.

I bought a small acreage in Texas back in the early 2000s and ran into many snakes there. One day, I saw a horned toad with the body of a snake. When it ran away from me it moved faster than any horned toad or any snake that I have ever seen. Also the fat part of the body was a little larger than a normal horned toad, but the snake like part was about 2 feet long. If this thing was any bigger, it could look somewhat similar to the dragons in the pictures. When I tell people about this thing, I know they think Im full of crap. From North East India here,in the rural village,in one area my dad owns 400 acres of farm land which he inherited from his forefathers, during my grandparents days they use it to cultivate rice and fruit and I heard stories of a "guardian spirit" who resides there,a 200 ft long "python" which is unlike any other python because he/she looks different from the Indian and Burmese pythons which are natives, the strange thing is apparently that guardian spirit have "horns" and wears "ear peice" ,that looks similar to wheat/rice stalks .. if he/she visits that area will have a bountiful harvest ,today dad forsook rice cultivation and planted rubber trees instead... That thing only visited once... He/she left a mark on the field, we are Christians so we don't believe in that "guardian spirit" thing ofc... Researchers and historians today are looking at the possibility of "dragon" being synonymous with "dinosaurs". (Just go look up the modern day debates on this. Too lazy to find the sources, but I'm pretty sure you can Google this topic). Up until the middle ages, there was no term for "dinosaur". Scaled beasts were referred to by writers, hunters, and travelers alike as dragons... It is possible that all over the world, the case would have been similar. It's just that the societies all have different ways of treating and perceiving them. In the case of most Asian territories, they are associated with power and divinity.
