The fault given will depend on the situation - ie who or what is nearby. Since there was no-one else around Ethan got away with a driving fault - but if there was danger nearby we would have given him a serious fault. If the examiner is forced to stop him pulling away in front of a passing car it could even be marked as dangerous! It all depends.

I taught my friend to drive inside lockdown and he passed first time on his practical test i’m not a qualified driving instructor but I do watch these videos on a weekly basis and when I’m teaching someone to drive I always print off The very same paperwork that driving instructors and driving examiners have on on their clipboards I also purchased clipboards as well and after they passed their driving test I let them keep their driving logs as a reminder if they want to.

Six point check, mirrors when moving off and blind spot are so important. Also to check your centre mirror and right mirror every single time you are in a new road. That’s part of the basic’s and a lot of people fail on that. It’s always best to train with a professional driving instructor - even if it costs more. You are more likely to pass your driving test that way.

Hi, great video and commendable effort from Ethan as well. I have my driving test in 2 weeks and have a few questions about using the handbrake, observations, roundabouts and speed if that’s alright. 1. Do you have to use the handbrake when stopping at a red light? - My instructor tells me it could be considered a fault for control if I don’t. 2. Do you have to use the handbrake at a stop sign? - I didn’t do this in a mock test and it was marked as a serious fault. 3. When changing lanes to exit at a big roundabout, do you need to check your left blind spot or are mirror checks sufficient? 4. If you need to exit at a roundabout but a car is next to you in the left lane, is it ok to exit in the right lane or do you have to go around the roundabout again to exit in the correct lane? 5. Is it true that you fail for not driving at least 40mph in a national speed limit road if the road is clear ahead? - this is something my instructor told me as well. 6. How slow are you allowed to go when approaching and driving around a roundabout? - sometimes I find it easier to slow the car so there is more time to observe, but would I be considered a hazard for going around a roundabout at 10-15mph? Thanks so much!
@AdvanceDrivingSchool3 жыл бұрын
We have made a whole video about the handbrake, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5aVe3mNot2Ll9E Essentially it is up to you to decide when you would find it useful - there are no rules to say when you must use it, except when parking of course! 1: No - although we would recommend it for longer stops. 2: No - just make sure the car stops completely. 3: We would recommend it, in case a car is in your blind spot. 4: Yes - but what if the car doesn't actually leave the roundabout? Some people use the wrong lane at roundabouts, so braking or going round again is probably safer. 5: That depends on how clear and straight the road is. You certainly should try to keep up with the 'flow of traffic' - we try to go within 10mph of the limit whenever it is safe to do so. 6: That depends on how good the visibility is at that junction. The less you can see, the slower you must go. Good luck!

I have noticed that not all driving instructors are good at teaching, they must be good at driving, it doesn't mean that they are good at teaching. Teaching is a skill which requires sufficient experiences and knowledge. Some people are naturally talented in teaching but also they need to study to deliver correct information and knowledge. To be honest, my husband is not a driving instructor but has been driving for 30 years and I discovered that he is a good teacher when I learned driving from him as my husband teaches far more better than my instructor. Therefore, I believe what you said, you must be a good teacher even though you are not a qualified driving instructor. Moreover, not all driving instructors are fully qualified, the most of them are a trainee to be fully qualified or teaching people because of lots of driving experiences.

Failing for mirrors is such a silly thing, it’s not difficult just to glance at your mirror before signally just to check it’s safe. I’ve failed 2 driving tests, completed the whole 40 mins on both but have never gotten a minor for mirrors, it’s just something I always do first. It’s engraved into my head.

I have a question, I did my test in Bury St Edmunds today unfortunately I failed because of the big Tesco roundabout. I was coming of the a14 and needed to go 4th exit (to go past travelodge and into town) and I immediately thought I needed to be in the 2nd lane but the car next to me was on the left and went 4th exit. Does it matter what lane you need to be when leaving the a14 onto a roundabout? (Hope that made sense tried to explain it how I could)
@AdvanceDrivingSchool3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that you didn’t pass. It sounds like you were using the correct lane, but perhaps needed to give more room to the car in the other lane. You can see how we would have driven that way in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZS2oWiKmaiSoK8 In theory the other driver shouldn’t use the left lane to turn right - but other drivers often do things like that - which is why we must check our mirrors before changing lanes when we leave the roundabout. Good luck next time. 👍🏼
@xkatierosee3 жыл бұрын
@@AdvanceDrivingSchool thank you so much for the reply and the video link! Honestly that’s helped me to understand how I can move over to the correct lane safely, I always found that roundabout tricky as I failed both times on that roundabout.

This video was very helpful but I have a question. Say you don’t know the 1st question he asked or you don’t know how to turn the dimmed lights on or something similar and decided not to do it because you would rather not crash trying to find it, Would that be a fault??
@AdvanceDrivingSchool3 жыл бұрын
If you aren’t sure you are allowed to stop and find your car’s light controls etc before driving on. Failure to do as requested will be a fault, but this is normally a driving (or minor) fault unless the distraction causes danger. This video might help: Show Me Tell Me Questions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmrUZqSAr86erdE 👍🏼

The 7th minor fault was choosing 5th gear too early. Then we got the 8th for following distance. So 9th minor fault should have been pushing down clutch too early, but at this point I think during editing or something they counted wrongly and they thought the clutch control was 8th minor but it was actually 9th. As I write this I have just paused on the dual carriageway so I cannot wait to see the total count, but so far I am 1 minor fault ahead of them....
