I deadass learned more from this video than I did in two semesters of class. My lecturer was TOO FAST. I think when teaching a beginner from scratch you need to talk slower and clearer (like Alexa) and keep repeating the important points. Merci !

Thanks Alexa. We're studying this now at evening class. In the late 70s, me and my family went to Corsica. A museum curator said to us "pas flash" - no flash! No flash allowed, when taking pictures with a camera. A command, narrowed down simply and succinctly, as a command.

I don't usually comment on videos but I just wanted to say your section on informal contractions was extremely helpful. Especially the "shay pas" which comes up in the chorus of the 2024 French Eurovision song. I had been very confused why my ears couldn't pick out the "je ne", turns out that's cause they're not there!
