so what can i so when all our 18 month old wants to do is not to stack things but to dump all his toys and throw them around...i have been stacking and playing with him on how to stack and all he wants to do is knock them down...also he is just starting to walk now and i have alot of late walkers in our family

Hi Tracey. It’s not uncommon for little ones to prefer knocking blocks down over stacking them. It’s really fun for them and a way for them to experience cause and effect. You may want to try using blocks that connect (such as Duplos) first in order to encourage him to get the concept of stacking down. If you’re having issues with him throwing things, maybe show him something he’s allowed to throw, like a small, soft ball. As always, if you’re at all concerned about your child’s development, be sure to speak with your pediatrician. Hope this helps! 😊
