@johnmarcusengreso82735 ай бұрын
A lot of people don't really learn the right way. The way this person is dedicated is in grinding their hours at animation is good. Most young artists tend to just draw what they want and ignore what they should do to improve. Which isn't wrong but if you wanna be a genuine good artist / animator Then you should start conducting research instead of JUST drawing as a hobby.

Incredible progress! Just some notes of criticism I have, feel free to take what you want out of it as I'm not quite a professional. Please don't feel discouraged by any of my feedback though, I think you've probably made more progress than I ever did in a year of animation school so please keep going! For the second animation, there is a good understanding of wave principle and the likeness of the character is maintained well but I think the hair strands move too uniformly. One way to break up the uniformity of the hair is grouping them by weight so that the arcs of the large clumps of hair hold for longer frames on the extremes than the shorter strands, giving them the appearance of being heavier. Another method is to add more volume to the hair strands (see curie lu or yoneyama mai's animations/artworks for good examples of this), they simplify the hair to an almost flat paper like structure which I find is a lot easier to animate and rotate in 3D space. Currently your drawings have some variety but you need to really push it to give it more believability, the seaweed practice is good but it sort of forces you to think too two dimensionally, it could be a good practice to try that version of the wave animation in multiple directions rather than just a flat wave. The wind looks quite strong too so the entire head of hair should also blow towards other directions (from left to right, up or even towards the camera, which is a nuance that's sometimes hard to notice). Tbh I'm not super sure of the reasoning behind this but I've noticed that it's something animators do especially with intense wind or motion. For the third jump animation, it's missing anticipation, if you try acting out a jump, you'd probably notice yourself stretching upwards then bending forward, tilting your head up, swinging your arms and closing your eyes etc. I would add some heavy squash and stretch on the takeoff and impact and smears to the arms to emphasise the momentum of a jump. It's good to exaggerate then dial it back depending on how realistic you want it. It's definitely very difficult to do from the front view though, I believe there's a japanese animator on twitter that animates a single action in three perspectives (front, side, three quarter). It could be a good practice to try if you struggle with different perspectives. A little aside about cloth and hair: the shirt should have the same motion as the hair and if it's tucked, it should maintain its form more while creating tension between the shoulders and hips. The overshoot of the hair after he lands is also the same as when hes falling, which doesn't make sense as he wouldn't have the same energy. For the animations at 0:28, they show very good understanding of form but I think you should probably add a bit more of a wavy motion as the convection currents carry the bits of smoke away and dissipate. This is also personal preference but I think you shouldn't color your explosion in black as it's harder to track the little bubbles that form, I think it probably should've risen a bit further, the middle of its body thinning out a bit, more before dissipating, giving it the characteristic mushroom cloud appearance.

Very awesome to see you tackle VFX. Super impressive stuff! Feel free to ignore these but some things that help me with VFX: Often times particle dissipation looks best when done much more slowly (over many frames) than you'd expect. For example, the effect on the left at 0:28 has each particle settle/dissipate really slowly which looks great imo. The one on the right not quite as much. And in my opinion could benefit from it as well. The explosion after that also could be better with the end of the dissipation being a bit slower imo. It's not about the entire dissipation being being slower more just having the particles dissipate more slowly the smaller they become. As for the fire cycles, they're really good, but maybe you could experiment with having the main chunks detach at some point and dissipate as particles, rather than only tiny bits breaking off into particles. Of course these are just my 2 cents and you should feel free to ignore these suggestions if you don't agree with them. :3
