Me and my best friend started a local Tekken scene in our college and we've had an influx of newer players so I took it upon myself to make a video resource list of various Tekken concepts to help ease them into the wonderful world of Tekken and your videos Zug have been a godsend. Btw I think sidestepping and tracking is one of my biggest weaknesses. I have a Tekken bud who sidesteps literally everything I do, I think he's some kind of sidestepping genius or something. Idk

I love this kind of stuff. I was a HUGE Tekken Tag and Tekken 3 addict back in the day but I practically stopped playing the series all together for 4 and 5 because between 3 and 4 on the Playation, they removed the ability to assign side stepping to buttons in the controller settings. IMO, without that one little feature, the game felt so clumsy for years.

This and your play any character guide, along with novriltatakis 3d videos are the perfect 2d fighters guide to tekken. Keep up at the great work, I love it.

Great guide, but wanted to make a correction: I think you got the z and y-axes mixed up. Generally, the z-axis refers to the vertical axis of a 3D plane, while the y-axis is horizontal, but perpendicular to the x-axis. Basically, assuming that 2D movement is along the x-axis, then sidestepping would be moving along the y-axis, and jumping would be moving along the z-axis.
@bobbybobert50655 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but youve got it mixed chief. X is horizontal, y is up and down, z is depth.

Thanks for this man. I too came to Tekken from being disgruntled with street fighter 5 and I haven't looked back in 2+ years. For someone who's only played for 6 months, your knowledge in this area, your rank and your Lee are indeed excellent. Which part of Australia are you from? I go to Melbourne somewhat annually so if you're there I hope to meet up and get some games in.

@bug95915 жыл бұрын
I think it’s more of the idea of having a 3rd dimension is difficult to grasp, rather than utilizing it. I’m new to tekken and my movement is fine, but I struggle with inputting combinations of moves ie. king grabs than anything else.
@V1ert5 жыл бұрын
Bruh Actually Tekken is easy,Only one thing I struggle its Throw breaking
@The_Voluptuary5 жыл бұрын
Vertex, that’s a terribly shallow viewpoint and comment. Easy for you is not easy for everyone. I grew up with Tekken and I can fully understand why side-stepping could be difficult for someone who only knows a game like Mortal Kombat. I love MK, it’s my favourite fighter, and I find often that when I return to Tekken after a decent period playing Kombat League, I completely forget my ability to utilize 3D movement for the first fight.
@V1ert5 жыл бұрын
Cameron Wethly. Man what hard for tapping some buttons?There is no need to sidestep at every second. I have Mk too,and play it sometimes,still nothing hard. Things that hard is backdash cancel,or wave dash,other things not so hard.

And as usual. Incorrect notation of sidestep, sidewalk. Is it really that hard to show that after up/down input you need to return to neutral for it to register as sidestep instead of jump/crouch?
@MassiveZug5 жыл бұрын
No reason to bloat the command input for something that is VERY intuitive, especially since many beginners do not understand the star notation; thanks for being a big fan of my work :)

Personally, I feel Tekken and most of these 3d fighters are just 2d fighters on a horizontal plane. You want an actual 3d fighter? Look at Dissidia.
@olayinkaanifowose50995 жыл бұрын
Isn’t that what 3d is? The “new” space you can occupy on that horizontal plane?
@MansMan420695 жыл бұрын
@@olayinkaanifowose5099 3d means up/down, left/right, and forward/back. All 3 at once. Tekken hardly ever emphasises the vertical movement, much less give us control over our vertical movement. The most "3d" character in Tekken Akuma due to his superior jumping ability. So really, Tekken is just 2d but on the x and z axes.
@olayinkaanifowose50995 жыл бұрын
Sylas Grayson but the access to the vertical dimension is what makes it 3d? Not your ability in that dimension
@MansMan420695 жыл бұрын
@@olayinkaanifowose5099 I have yet to see Tekken make control of the vertical space consequential. The funny thing is, it's the 2D guest characters that use the vertical space better, which makes them more 3D than the actual cast.
