Understanding spoken Portuguese is indeed very very hard for language learners. My advice would be to give it time and just aquire as much of the language as possible: grammar, vocabulary, learn whole phrases. Once you develop a certain expectation as to what ppl might be saying, deciphering what they are actually saying will become easier and easier. Just don't give up and keep going. Everything is hard before it becomes easy. Good luck!
