@Sergio G. I do understand what you are saying but i don't think it is harder to integrate into bunny hopping taller objects or covering ground from this method. In the beginner clinics I've run, I found i can get a kid bunny hopping quicker from this method and then transition into the big bunny hops from there. The Key to the transition is putting objected in front of you to bunny hop. I like using empty soda cans. line them up and try to jump over them. once you have that, go 2 cans high, then 3 cans high.(you can fill the bottom row half full of water to stabilize it if it is windy out. You will naturally gravitate back into more of a manual type, snap up position before you bunny hop. I find it easier for kids (who have never bunny hopped before) to learn it this way than going for the "monster" bunny hop right away. I hope that helps. thanks for watching.

What psi do you recommend i have 2.3 tires 100 psi max i dont do big jumps maybe 4 feet drops off curbs great vid thnx

I run about 75 psi in my tires. If i run 100 psi my bike is so stiff it hurts my wrists when i land. I kind of old though. Lol

Ive got a pretty solid hop technique with good height but when I try to do it at top speed (25/9t drive) I always botch it, usually from not pre-loading enough which results in not enough explosive power upwards when I hop and barely getting the wheels off the ground. From a coasting speed around 5-10mph Im able to get some good clearance though usually 2-3ft high. Feels like theres a mental barrier that only occurs at higher speeds any suggestions?
@thebasementbikeshop23365 жыл бұрын
I have the same problem. The technique should be no different. I think it's all mental barrier. The only thing i can think of is bunny hopping at high speed over something into a foam pit or lake. A situation where you are not afaid to crash.

@@thebasementbikeshop2336 Ah I see. Yeah i definitely need to work on actually hopping over things. Also im in the process of learning flar 180s having trouble timing the hop with the spin. I can scoop the rear wheel and have good horizontal rotation but keep landing at about 120degrees cuz im not getting enough height to do the full 180 any suggestions?

It depends on technique right ? cos my bmx is heavy af lol
@thebasementbikeshop23364 жыл бұрын
Yeah...as long as the geometry is right. The first bike i bunny hopped a garbage can on was 35lbs.

My problem with the "snap up and jump" bunny hop technique that doesn't have a manual component to it is that it's a harder technique to integrate into actually using the bunny hop to cover ground. What do you find is a good balance of body positioning to get set up for a hop but still retain the manual for a moment or two to cover obstacles and get around with it?
@thebasementbikeshop23366 жыл бұрын
I think when you are first learning how to bunny hop, it's easier to get the mechanics down and get your first bunny hop up using this technique. As you learn to go higher and over taller objects, you will naturally gravitate back more on the snap up.
