Little tip (1st gear for best torque) turn the wheel to the left (or right) and stomp it, literally stomppp don’t be a kitty, once you get used to that, start countersteering when you feel that oversteer to control it, with practice you’ll get it down soon

I’ve been drifting my V6 Stang for years. It’s not about clutch kick or the amount or power, it’s about weight transfer. I drift my stock mustang without any power. Flick the wheel the opposite direction, mash the gas, lock in the direction you want to go in, the counter steer. Easy as pie

Pop the clutch. Then don’t just turn left turn right once you make it go left that way it will kick out and make the car go side ways. It’s all about turning the steering wheel left and right. That’s what makes it drift.

That’s all understeer, drifting is when the car oversteers. In drifting you steer the car with the throttle.

In my opinion a launch control would be rad for your next mod. You don't really need it if you are not racing all the time but why not

what you need is to drive in a circle and slowly gain some speed while going in a circle, once you feel your tail end slipping just a little you put more gas until you let loose then you can adjust your steering wheel for more angle, remember if you trying to drift left you will learn left during the drift for a tighter turn and when turning right while driving left you will have more angle so your circle will be wider, good luck man please dont reck that beauty

In my opinion your setup is more on a drag racing type of car rather than drifting and maybe that's why you can't drift properly.

I’m not the best either man but a few tips would be to just practice your counter steering and just keep fluttering the gas pedal (you’ll get a feel for it). Once you hit the spot where you’re both out of control and in control you’ll be solid 👍🏼. Hope this helps!

Also Nate I used to have a mustang of your body style.. I had to scream it in the RPM’s to keep a drift going where as in my new edge I can flutter it at 2500 and be completely fine. The heavy tires you have on in the back aren’t helping so I would definitely switch to the lighter ones next time so you don’t have to beat on Sally too much.

You can drift with a GT mustang, but you have to change the suspension AFAIK. There's another guy with a red previous generation model GT on KZbin that did it and he got excellent results. Nate, check it out. I am sure it would be easy to search for his videos.

You gotta use the throttle to control your direction while having the wheel turned the opposite direction and don’t give tooooo much throttle or you’ll kick yourself into a donut

You need a harder tire compound and high psi it will help lose grip a lot better I’ve had those tires on my charger my setup was good for grip. You need cheap tires for drifting

Start with normal donuts then work on opposite lock donuts and throttle modulation then you will have the basics

Do you have advanced traction control? If not then just raise it to 4K and do a 1/4 turn of the steering wheel and 10/10 times you’ll be engaged into some donut👌🏽🔥

Take it to Parts Shop Max in Escondido so you get it properly set up for drifting. I have their coilover system and believe me, it is night and day from stock. My car is totally predictable when sliding and it leaves off the line perfect when drag racing. I also have a black S197 with NOS here in SD. store.partsshopmax.com/
