It’s not the same with automatic , but what you can do for drifting is using hand brake(E brake) when you curving and keep pushing gas and drifting and keep that same rpm all around when you pull the hand brake. Way more challenging and less fun then a manual car;) You might also change and out those sport racer handle E brake levers, way easier and smooth to drifting .

I felt the same way up until I met Vaughn in 2009 - I even told him that. He then took me out to show me how much fun it was. Then, the real point came when he invited me to a Formula D event. The point is this: Unlike NASCAR and F1, for US$5 - 10K, any fan in the stands can go out and do the same thing.

+Daniel Groulx I go throw a lot of cars each year and I always beat the hell out of them in lots especially when it snows and it's great to know "panic" maneuvers in tough situations. Accidents unfortunately have a great deal to do with driving. They should have it taught in drivers ed as a MANDATORY because it is a real-world exercise. I typically drive a Mustang or 3rd gen Camaro in my New England winter and have yet to lose control from my exercises.

i was in my mustang gt with 4 people when some asshole breakchecked me. i tried to avoid hitting him by cutting the wheel to the right. once i cut the wheel my back tires started to spin out because i cut the wheel so hard. if i knew half the skills that this person knows then maybe i would still have my baby instead of flipping her over that day going 75 miles an hour. I promised myself i would learn to be more of a driver like the one in this video. doing so my next mustang would have the best possible driver behind it so i can avoid all the assholes on the road.

The best place to go is an organized drifting club event. Look around your local area and find out who runs the clubs. That said, they may not be able to offer you track time due to your age. On most track day events organized for car clubs, a lot of cut offs are 25 but worth checking.
@911shan
@911shan 8 жыл бұрын
I recently got my Amateur racing license after a 3 day course with a trained instructor on a closed power lap circuit. It was raining all 3 days, and a Mustang likes to get tail happy when it's wet lol. So my instructor taught me how to drift every turn on the track. My first day I improved a lot and by the 3rd day, at slow-medium (Track) speeds I could drift almost the entire track without too many mess-ups. Here is what I learned. Get yourself a Mustang GT. Mine is a 2007 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 Litre V8 producing 335bhp. Identical to the one in the video.What Vaughn teaches the guy in the beginning is kind of useless if you wanna do it on a track or in an actual race, because the clutch-pop is only really useful if you are in 1st or 2nd gear. Any higher and there just isn't enough torque to have the car Over-steer, and it ends up under-steering and you end up off the track and into the sand. But practice that technique first, because you get a sense of how the car feels when out of control, and when you do the more practical (Weight-shift) technique, you can handle the car better. Make sure to have Traction-Control off lol, and get into 2nd gear and up to about 3000-5000 revs, and if you're turning to the right, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees left, step on the gas for a quick surge of power as you quickly turn the wheel back to it's normal position and continue rotating it about 180 degrees to the right. The unbalance of weight in the car, will send the back out because it's a rear-wheel drive car with the engine in the front, hence the back is lighter than the front of the car. Then, feather the weight and counter-steer, you will spin out a lot and under-steer a lot but eventually you will find that perfect Clitoris lol (sweet spot) and be able to hold the drift. Takes no more than 2-3 days of about 6 hours a day of training with supervision and you will be very good by the end of it. Most modern cars have the safety feature of the hand-brake in your car, where if you turn and pull the handbrake, their will be a beeping sound and the handbrake will only lightly apply (For Safety Reasons). You cannot disable this mode because it is illegal, so unless you go professional or maybe rent a car from the track that "Might" have that safety feature off, you can't use the handbrake to lock up the front wheels at speed and send the back out. Also, just one more quick thing, standard handbrakes are not good for drifting, they are not meant to lock up the front wheels at speed, the stress causes the handbrakes to fail. Hence, most racers have modded "Hydraulic" handbrakes which are built to handle that stress. Do NOT practice drifting on a street, or you'll either end up in someone's living room or into someone's car. Go to a racetrack and practice safely. Install a Roll Cage, Wear a helmet, proper clothing and proper footwear and install a 3-point seat belt with a corresponding car seat for maximum security. Real life is NOT Fast and Furious, major risk of hurting yourself and others. Good Luck!

I've noticed that it's different for some people. It's sort of like driving stick in that if you have prior knowledge of how a clutch works then getting in the car and driving it comes a lot easier. If you study drifting or even practice in sim racing it comes so much more naturally. Hell my first time drifting was in a lifted '89 Wrangler on dirt and I held that thing sideways for way longer than I thought I could. Now I just have to save the money and build myself a proper drift car

It’s pretty challenging drifting with mustangs v6or v8 it’s all about the handling and east to controlling and get it back of steeering wheel like he mentioned... The main factor issue here is those cars are muscle cars are really heavy to control it, I did today slalom around bunch of cars on regular road (everyone wanna race you ) when they actually see a mustang. Well I am pro stunt driver and been driving since I was 7 , so not easy to deal with that... We are pros, we don’t do this in regolar street, anyway even today for me that I been driving all German /Italian cars mosts, I saw really challenging time to curving perfectly with the mustang . But I love my Mustang, you getting one for the look the power the sound no so much for handle, lol . Stock mustang has no so many potentials for be a drift car, you should lower the suspension making it lighter and better steeling Wheel abs on it. I would suggest also using a sport racer tires, cuz you gonna burn a lot ;) Yeap stock model comes with 300 hp and 320 feet of torque , but you still need to do some changes for take it to the another level. It’s all folks! Burn your rubber

Clutch kick is kinda like heel toe in some ways.. The thing is when you quickly push in the clutch you have to yank the steering left then yank the wheel right so you get that drift started and then you gotta quickly hit the accelerator to keep your RPMs up and you have to do it all in a matter of seconds other wise you stall the car and steering wheel and tires lock up... For those that don't know what RPM means. It means Revs Per Minute.

how do u stall a car that is already moving? and its revolutions, not revs if you want to talk technical. and no you don't "yank the steering" u clutch kick to lose traction with the rear tires, then add gas to keep them spinning. if they lose traction while turning they slide out. it requires no "yanking" and the back end kicks out by hitting the accelerator so u don't have to "quickly hit it" it won't lose the traction if your not hitting it. please ask your mom to reteach you to drive.

What exhaust setup do you think sounds better, Borla ATAK or Ford Racing exhaust? Nice video, by the way. :)

Those are Vaughn's own RTR wheels. Call Galpin Auto Sports. They'll sort you out.

I accidentally drifted my ‘98 v6 earlier today out in the country on a left turn when it was all clear for me too do so and I came into the turn to hot and did what I had too do in order to stay in my lane. If I fucked up I would have gone into a trench that there’s no return from other than getting toed out.
What's it like to Go Drifting for the First Time?
