Ajahn Brahm going on 4 years since finding you on the internet. You have got me thru much suffering in my life. My spouse is an Alcoholic and it's getting worse. I listen to say just be nice just be nice. I have been . Even my adult children have abandoned me . A bad childhood no dad and a mom who told me she was never able to love me n told me I'm sorry when I'm 25. Childhood truma adult truma how do we heal? I stayed in a room by my self for two years I couldn't handle it. And now I'm so weak. I'm suffering much pain. I take care of homeless kitty's n try to feed them but I'm failing. They give me life to live. Why is it that people have a hard time to love? You are the mont kindest generous loving person on earth. Im greatful to be able to listen to you. T You are so special to us all. I wish someone would take my garbage lol of life so I can live because I don't know how. Blessings my dearest AB

Thank you so much, Ajahn Brahm. Your dharma talks are also so on point for me. If I lived near enough in Australia, I would be there to see/hear dharma talks in person. Sadly, I live in the USA and it is way, way too far to walk or swim. As near as I can tell there are no active Buddhists in my area. I am content to read your books, listen to you on KZbin and practice as best I can. Happy almost birthday. You are one month and seven days older than my youngest sister. Sadhu. Sadhu. Sadhu. 🙏🙏🙏

The reaction of compassion to pain is wonderful. Thank you. We've learned to get angry, instead (to mask the pain?). So it's the getting angry that we've got to deal with (after the fact) and not really the pain.

I think the book Venerable Ajahn Brahm mentions at about 19 mins in is by Robin McKenzie and called "Treat Your Own Back"

Is it "Be Your own Back Doctor" by any chance? Or is that a different book? The latter book got me through 40 years of very heavy manual work with no injury. Whenever my back got tight and in pain I could let it go and let it heal.
