This is arguably one of the best videos released by Slate Billiard Club. The mental aspect of the game and of life, is so important. Arguably, even more than the fundamentals. I love the intentional focus being placed on an important topic that you really don’t hear others talking about in the digital pool world. This is yet another example of why Josh is one of the best pool trainers in the world. And….super cool and incredibly 🧠 to have Mrs. Slate as an expert guest on to speak on the topic. Great content!!

Good video Josh! Hi Irene, pleased to meet you 🤝 great job defining Flipping your Lid, Josh, you're pretty lucky to have professional help so close by, haha. I try to not get too upset when missing a shot, it takes focus and awareness to not allow the Lizard mind to take over. You said "it's ok" when we miss a shot, so we miss a very makeable shot, at that moment in time it's not ok, it could cost a game, match, or just be in practice. Suppressing the frustration/anger and getting into a positive mindset is the thing to work on. Thanks Josh for the video, thank you Irene for agreeing to be a part of it. See you next time 👋

@stevemiller1159 it is OK to miss Everyone does It's unavoidable We can train and prepare to miss less Acceptance in the moment is critical The only thing worse than a miss is a follow up miss, misses or worse yet, melt down because there is no acceptance and release for the mistake and a move back to being present

@stevemiller1159 I'd also add that ''suppression" is not the goal Acceptance is "Name it to tame it" as my little pal stated😃

Maybe not the place to ask, but can one stop by to see your room and check it out or by an appointment? It's been awhile and I'm looking to start playing again. (I think you might be the Josh Burbul I used to play in open tournaments way back in the early 90's at University Billiards with by good friend at the time, Tony Piazza.)
