I think she’s the one who has changed the most among the red velvet members, she went from cutie Joy, who felt afraid and insecure of singing after hearing other singers to Sexy Dynamite (nickname by Wendy actually) who has now an OST in a drama and she does covers sometimes, she improved a lot her singing, confidence and fashion style, she such an icon in her Instagram not just bc of her style but by she takes a lot of effort in it and it’s kind of a perfectionist. Yeah Joy was the original maknae when RV debuted.. so she was labeled as the cute one for that 1st year. But when Yeri finally got to debut in Red Velvet in 2015.. Joy didn’t have to be the one doing the aegyo all the time. She was pretty good doing it, but now she leaves it all to Yeri. LOL! However, she still has these cute mannerisms or facial expressions that is precious or funny. So she gets called CUTIE SEXY and every since “Peek-A-Boo/Bad Boy” era she got the nick name SEXY DYNAMITE. But she has such a great personality too and she is transparent/honest with her feelings/opinions. She really is the one member who will say if something is not right or call out bad behavior towards them. There were so many instances where Joy would stand up to creepy camera men during music shows or she would cover up other members. She will speak her mind when she feels like it. She usually doesn’t cry easily, but when she does that means she has an attachment to something or if it was a really important event in her life. She cried a couple times when they won 1st in music shows. She cried when she had to say goodbye to BTOB’s Sungjae in WE GOT MARRIED. She cried in the last day/goodbye event for her 1st drama “The Liar And His Lover”. Yep as you get by now.. Although this is a nice video, it really showed only one side of Joy. Although on television shows show has an outgoing appearance (which is why we call her and Yeri the best on variety shows) Joy has spoken before about her insecurities and growth as an artist and person. 12:07 yeah it kind of was for me too at first but since age difference is such an integral part of Korean society (as does seniority in a work environment) that program creates a space were all are equal like in the same grade so people comes in as transferred students, it's a way to get everyone at ease and have fun. Before I'd ever listened to RV I was a fan of Joy. For a while I was obsessed with the reality show 'We Got Married', where they pair up celebs and have them pretend to get married - she was paired up with SungJae from BtoB and they became most peoples favourite pairing on the show - they really were the most adorable fake couple. She was so confident and flirty a lot of the time, which was a rare occurrence on that show, but also she revealed a much more vulnerable side to herself as well and that's what made me become a big fan of hers.
