I learned the most underrated mechanic in Rocket League in my opinion, the ceiling pinch. I broke it down into 3 levels and went from almost no experience to pulling it off in an online ranked match.

The ceiling pinch turned out to be so much easier that I expected. I always thought the mechanic wasn't used much in ranked because it was just too difficult to do consistently. I learned that you can absolutely control it and get used to it pretty quickly. I will definitely keep practicing the ceiling pinch in Rocket League because I think it's not used nearly enough as it should be. I got to play with ‪@PulseFireRL‬ and ‪@Virge‬ during this video who helped me along my journey to learning the ceiling pinch in Rocket League.

I've gotten really good at ceiling pinches over the last year. I find I get the most use out of them from my team's corner wall, just to clear the ball far from our side. It catches the opponents off-guard, to the point we get a counter attack going, and occasionally it'll go fast enough to just bounce once and go straight in. (GC3-Low SSL lobbies)

In SideSwipe ceiling pinches are an absolute must. They're really easy to master, but the effects are the same that you listed here in the video: it often leads to an easy, safe goal, but the majority of the time it sets you up for a good play, because of the surprise and unpredictability factor.

Once scored one of these absolute bangers about two years ago. Was a thing of beauty. Best thing was, I didn't set it up, I just went for the ball as it rolled up the wall off an opponents hit. Slammed it into the curve of the ceiling and it thunderbolted into the goal at 142kph. Saved that goal for posterity.

I've been wanting to see ceiling pinches in pro play for so long, and I think this video might encourage that. I feel like especially fire showed the unreasonably crazy potential that ceiling pinches have. I mean half a boost tank to score a 166 kph shot is insane. Also setups aren't crazy infrequent. They also could be strong because teams would have to try and intercept the ball near the ceiling, this would make fake ceiling pinches another strong effect of ceiling shot implementation. One could like fake going up for the ceiling pinch and then do a double touch off the ceiling liked you talked about in your expected mechanics in pro play video.

i’m around champ 1 and have been for a couple months. i do something similar pretty often. not a pinch per say, but more like a well timed dodge that bounces off the ceiling towards the opposing net with decent speed. basically a plat version of this lmfao virtually the same setup. no one is ever prepared for even those at my rank. i can’t believe i haven’t actually thought to just pinch it myself lmfaoo because i love going for wall pinches as is.
@Thatwhiteblackkid
@Thatwhiteblackkid 2 жыл бұрын
Ceiling pinches are a decent counter attack, clearance, or passing option. That’s about it imo. It’s tough to score because unless the shot is fast enough to catch the defender out of position, the defender has plenty of time to read the ball’s trajectory since the shot comes from so far away. It’s also more predictable than just a normal wall pinch because you’re evidently going to start an attack from the ceiling.

Going supersonic to the wall while dribbling it will get more speed. The ball will go off the wall on its own and you just jump and angle ur car if you want and flip. I get my pinches like minimum 150kph. Fastest i’ve gotten off the ceiling was 183kph.

I use these and kuxir pinches a lot as clears. It's my go-to when we are boost starved or just need the ball somewhere that's not right here. I don't have a ton of goals directly with them, but a ton of good counter attacks. Works great in GC1 2s.

9:03 this is hilarious to me because if the opponent doesn’t hit the ball on the backboard at all, it’s a free goal cus it’ll just bounce back towards Walton’s net and he’ll only need like 20 boost to reach the ball and shoot.

Hey Wayton, idk if you will see this, but I was apart of a small freestyle team. I was a comp clip hitter for them, and a little bit of advice I can give is, never try to force a clip. You have to let it come naturally, or you will see yourself losing more games without hitting clips at all. Let the opportunity arise and take it. ALSO if you want to get better chances at hitting it switch things up. Instead of going for a ceiling pinch the entire time, go for an air dribble or flip reset. Play the ground more, and then try for more ceiling pinches. People will adapt really quickly if you keep trying the same thing over and over. Anyways that's my Ted Talk. I go to sleep now baiiiii and have a great one. Great Video btw bro keep it up

I think like the biggest downside to the ceiling pinch is how long it takes you to recover. Seems like the best time to use it would be on a counterattack where the other team is still trying to recover back to their side and you just need to get it down field quickly. Even then, it'd be very situational when it's actually the best option as opposed to a quick air dribble or simply booming it towards their goal.
