In the early 90s there was a well known paper in the journal Nature that showed that learning to juggle actually increases the size of your brain. Of course learning other activities will have the same effect, but it led to a craze in juggling in the UK. Juggling shops and clubs popped up in many towns. However, by the mid 90s there were so many good jugglers that beginners probably felt that learning 3 wasn't a very impressive skill and the craze ended. However, there were a few people like myself who continued in an effort to try to master the limitless possibilities regardless of how long it took.

I started off watching your 7 day fasting video and now I'm on juggling. Since yesterday I managed to fast 21 hours. I will never attempt 7 days or even 5, but I enjoyed watching you do it. I think a 3 day one would be doable for me and hopefully would reset my digestive issues. Your challenges are inspirational. -Something I find when learning something new is that in the first few days or weeks, our brains become saturated with new information to the point where we don't know what we're doing anymore and often do everything all wrong. It can be frustrating to the point of tears, and that's when I allow myself to "give up", so I might go a day or two without doing "the thing". Then, when I come back to it, it's like my brain has assimilated everything and I have reached a new level. I find this is applicable to everything I have ever attempted to learn.

Juggling is a strange one, as a lot of the fine motor skills required to juggle are often learned young (if you are lucky enough to have had an upbringing that supports more complex cognitive motor skills). However, once you get it, you aren't necessarily better suited than others to progress faster, as the learned motor skills are so far outside of what we normally experience that it puts everyone on an even field. If you have the bug, and you enjoy progressing, that is far more valuable than any other 'natural talent'. The power of practice is real, the power of enjoyment is even more powerful. Keep at it, get that 3 balls, and hopefully, you'll ride that wave of progression much further down the juggling rabbit hole.

Pro tip: juggling 5! Yes 5! Is the exact same as juggling 3. It seems impossibly fast at first but it’s the same cascade. Just need accurate arches. Accurate throws. People that can juggle 3, can juggle. People that can juggle 5 are jugglers. Also: much study has been done on three ball juggling. Because it uses left and right brain in a rhythm, it balances and increases the transfer of information and coherence between them. IQ tests performed before and after have shown over a 10% increase post juggling. It’s meditative and calming and sharpens the mind. Congrats. On a related subject. I’d love to see you ‘try’ some of the bigger normal fears. Not extreme fear factor madness but ….more social stuff like ordering in a language not your own, public speaking or stand up comedy. Applying and interviewing for jobs you are completely unqualified for! Lol

I started juggling 5 weeks ago with selfmade balls, then I bought me good ones 3 weeks ago and tried another 6 hours with the new ones. And now, after 2.5 half weeks 'in ' (the goal of 30secs) .... I already can approximately 8 tricks.. Cascade and Reverse, tennis and something simimar, halfshower, 2 balls 1 hand (round and straight), burkes sth .. and windmill If I knew that 4 weeks ago when I thought I am so untalented .. I would have enjoyed every fail and win even more because these uncoordinated but funny times of balls going everywhere and further are over

Sorry, not to burst your bubble. But me, my brother and my cousin all learned to juggle one night at my grandma's. Maybe 1-2 hours and we got it. We learned with pool balls or billiard balls. I've since gone on to learn many more forms of juggling, the most balls I could do was 4, never quite understood how to do 5, although doing 4 is quite different than 3 and 5.
