I was just looking for an app like this (for piano). I like the gamification element but appreciate the point about maintaining proper technique. Thanks for the recommendation and for not being snobbish about something so simple. It's so helpful to do drills like this, so that our movements become automatic.

Thanks! And yes, this could be even better for the piano, since you have the option of connecting via midi so no false positives or negatives :)

Ooo! Thanks for sharing this! I’m just starting to learn to play on a small lever harp. This could really help me with hand-eye coordination, and building muscle memory so that I don’t have to look at my hands so much to ‘find’ the correct string.

I use a similar app called flash note derby, think it was cheaper. I didn't have issues with it not picking up the notes, although in the bass I have to pluck decicevly. Oh and not have wrong levers on...lol I think sound accuracy is perhaps to do with mobile device microphone rather than the app, so I wonder if external mic would make a difference? I do like the fact that the app you recommend hints at note names, think I struggling to remember the names especially that I am in a muddle of mixing up ABC and do re mi...lol

This sort of note learning is common for piano via Midi keyboard. But there are no Midi harps as far as I know. So recognizing the played notes via microphone is really cool!

Always looking for something like that for my students. Thanks for your insights.

Thanks Kristine! (If any of your students end up using it would be very interesting to hear how it goes for them!)

@@JoshLaynewe started already a couple of months ago with another app and were not really satisfied. Will give this one another go and sure, will let you know.

I recommend this app to my students and some of them really take off!

I tried a few apps like this, but they always struggled with the ringing of the harp. It seems this app also has some trouble with it, but not nearly as much as the others i tried. From my experience with other apps like this, the "penalize incorrect guesses" MUST be turned off on the harp, because of all the ringing that is going on, it will constantly pick up previously played notes and interpret them as incorrect guesses. And fortunately I also have a Camac Excalibur, so I can see in this video exactly how well it works with this particular harp. I'm definitely going to give this app a try.

Hi I was wondering as you set the settings to piano instead of strings maybe that's why it's not picking the right strings or missing notes ect?

I’m guessing an app like this could not quiz you on chords?
