Patient with lupus has a higher chance of developing APS, you should suggest a mixing study ie dRVVT assay prolong drvvt + normal plasma if corrrected -factor deficiency and if not corrected then suggest a presence of lupus. Confirmatory test followup adding excess phopholipd clotting should normalize.

I'm sorry I still don't get it. So the antibodies target and attack the phospholipids, which are fat acids that bind on the the coagulant factors (on the cell membranes). Due to these attacks the patient's physiological ability to perform a normal haemostasis is interrupted, disturbed. So how does a thrombosis occur? Is it because the cell membrane is attacked, which leads to cell lysis whereafter an accumulation of the cell materials? Update: after a little digging; so the thrombosis occurs because the antibodies do attack but also promote the epithelial cells, thrombocytes and WBC to form a clot. Correct? So they damage but promote?

spellbound! very nice. I think you can add about other treatment modalities such as eculizumab in refractory case/ aPL nephropathy, immunomodulator in autoimmune hemolytic anaemia/ thrombocytopenia.

Why does thrombosis occur if there is a defect in anti coagulation (anti phospholipid)?

coagulation can happen spontaneously, but triggers like infection or inflammation, trauma, immobilisation,... are the most common findings in trombosis events.

I have APS, suffered these "treatments" for 34 years, and finally learned it was all coming from food! 5 months ago I went to a 100% organic diet, and am seeing more progress in that time, than I have in my entire life! I'm talking all around health people! It's all improving.....It's diet! Diet!!!! I tell you!!!!!!
