As a German, in 70% I guessed the yiddish exactly right. and only 5-10% I could not understand completely. I'm proud! Which means that as an older man who loves languages, I can make learning yiddish a wonderful project for the rest of my life.

As an Hebrew speaker I think your German writing system is hard , so I will learn Yiddish first then I will use Yiddish knowledge learn German

Yiddish is actually considered a form of high-German! As someone who’s been learning Yiddish, I find myself using German translation guides as a resource often. That last 30% that may sound more unfamiliar is mostly derived from Polish and Hebrew!

While sleeping and having this play in the background, your brain absorbs this knowledge during your sleep and when you study the language the next morning (in the early hours of the morning), this can help tremendously. Well done for making this an eight hour long video with a southing background ambient sounds, would not be surprised to find out that the ambient sounds are actually HZ tuned :)

Git morgn is used to mean hello, it's fine to use it any time while the sun is up. Not just in the mornings.

Sometimes the woman who speaks pronounces an r like a kh. I guess it is a local accent variation. I grew up with the Sobotmezo Hasidim who spoke Yiddish a bit differently.

I hear different "r" pronunciations amond different chassidim even in the same community.

Gitten morgen is the american dialect, because the american jews are pronounce the "ו" like "i" so it sounds like gitten morgen although it written like "גוטן מאָרגן" which it would pronounce in the europian dialect like "guten morgn"

There are 2 broad dialect divisions: Northern and Southern. Northern is the Litvak, Lithuanian, dialect. They would say gut. Southern dialect is Polish/Ukrainian. They would say git.

It’s Yiddish. The different Swiss German Dialects are completely different.

There is no "true Yiddish Language" (or any other "true language"). It depends where one's geographical location is that determines the sound variations. If you mean "the yiddish that your parents (and grandparents) spoke, that's another thing.

You’re probably looking for Hungarian Yiddish, which is the most commonly spoken form. This video has some different pronunciations, specially using “doo” instead of “stee” at the end of you-words.

Yes, but only up to a point it is about 80 per cent German,15 per cent Hebrew,3 per cent Slavic languages(which has more of an effect on Yiddish syntax) and 2 per cent Romance languages.Also Yiddish uses the Hebrew alphabet so a German speaker would have difficulty with written Yiddish.
