She is a beauty! I am glad to see more and more multis moving towards genuine light weight sailing performance and away from the lumbering condomaran concept. Being able to sail at or near the wind speed up to 15kts without being at the ragged edge of stability is a huge benefit to cruisers making passage. Too bad this one comes at a VERY steep price of entry that few can afford. Cheers!

Holy Cow young man I think this is hands down one of if not the most amazing vessels you've ever shown on this channel. I need to hit the lottery like yesterday already but there's only one downside I see if I did. That downside if you can call it that is were I ever able to buy a vessel such as this I think I'd spend the rest of my days just crossing oceans. To hell with cruising I'd just constantly be out there. Sure I'd make the occasional stop at some exotic or interesting location but I doubt I'd stop for long and most stops would simply be for resupply. With a vessel such as that I can hardly imagine how easy it would be to Circumnavigate many times over. I'd like to know just how fast she is even in light wind as I imagine she's pretty damned fast and leaning more towards racing than cruising even with having only 5ft keels deep keels. Being so light I imagine she'd shame every other boat in the anchorage as far as time to destination. Man what a dream vessel that I didn't even know existed or how much I want one until you showed her. I'd heard of Gunboat but never really looked into them now I will be doing nothing but dreaming about this boat. Thanks Justin and I hope you and your's are all happy and healthy. Happy Easter may you and your's continue to be blessed. Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...

Gunboat. Think of a reasonable price and at least double it. But as you observed, even considering that, I personally think he wants way too much. I feel that there is no justification for that price of that almost 10 year old boat. Yes, they are all CF, light and fast! But they are a bear bones Cat. Removing the daggerboards seems silly and will (I'm sure) affect saleability. I feel he is asking too much for a 10 year old boat that almost certainly needs a refit. They say it needs new sails, so probably all standing rigging (and maybe running too. plus needs some TLC on the deck.

@@TheRaptor1967 There is now a *note written at the beginning saying the teak or rather "flooring will be replaced prior to sale". I periodically look up GB's and happened to do so recently, there appears to be no movement down in price, even an older much different 48 wants $1.45. I believe the name is so iconic that an owner such as this, who clearly did not want a high performance cat bought it for that reason alone. Removing the boards "should" affect the price, but then again they might easily find a similar buyer, after all this boat is a handful both to sail and maintain.

The cockpit layout is similar to to 🇬🇧 Rapier 400 long top and the sharp end their R550 from broad blue. Except the R 550 is a crewed by one if needed high speed cruising boat. With the mast and control lines in the bridge so you can just turn round your chair and its all there ..a real boat for all seasons.

With a yacht like this Gunboat 57, the new ORC 57 comes immediately to mind as a direct competitor. Identical lengths, design category and pretty much the same price similarly outfitted. The main difference is this Gunboat is nearly a *decade* old judging by the Yanmar motor model year. That's a LOT of time on the water and a lot of distance travelled in that time. After having watched several videos of buying used yachts and the veritable nightmare that can turn out to be - wow - just imagine plunking down 2 big ones on a 10-year old boat only to discover serious issues with it down the line. I'm not saying this boat has problems at all, but a prospective buyer may not be aware or can be made aware of everything that happened to or on this boat. It's a scary thought when that much money is involved. I know I wouldn't even if I could. I could go on and on about the design aspects I praise or despise, but won't bother when the elephant in the room is the price of admission compared to what you can find these days in new yachts having excellent performance and design characteristics. It boggles the mind, both by the asking price and what is available freshly built from other yards these days..

New Gunboats are typically _way_ more than this yacht's asking price. Somewhere in the neighborhood approaching $10 million. So, the depreciation seems roughly corresponding to what may have been an original price triple or more 10 years ago.. That said, Gunboats are not competitively priced at all and makes me wonder what exactly is a buyer paying for with a price so much higher than the competition? They are fast, arguably faster than every other sailing yacht except fully custom low-volume yards that specialize in high-performance yachts. But, Gunboats are not twice or three times faster, better, or more luxurious than anyone else, which leads me to conclude, as it is in the automotive world, a customer is paying a premium just for the brand name.

No AC and minimal to no ventilation in the hulls. Have you ever been in South Florida, the Keys, Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico in the summer??? One or several ones could live on this boat temporarily around Maine, Washington State, South Africa and other high northern and southern climes in the summer then spend the winter in Florida and related areas. Except for hurricanes and other storms, there is a lot of dead air in the summer. You would not want to be living in this boat in the summer in Florida. On the other hand, this looks like a SpaceX rocket ride in the right winds. That would earn the experience five Yabba Dabba Doos! I love that center, fighter pilot, center helm station. However, for $2M you could buy a 40 foot Dragonfly go just as fast and day/weekend sail while spending your nights in a waterfront hotel, for several years before you used up the rest of the two million dollars.

@@svechappe6075 Well, I don't keep track of every yacht out there but the two examples you cited are roughly half the age of this yacht and not the best comparison. In five years much can happen. All I can say is compare new yacht prices in the same high performance category. For example, HH, McConaghy, Kinetic, ORC, etc. Used prices run the gamut depending on the history of the yacht in question and may not always be a good indicator of a manufacturer's pricing strategy. I think Gunboats are overpriced but that's JMHO.

I used to dream I might be able to afford one of these one day if the price came way down and crypto went way up, however the GB market does not drop. I thought the GB 55 might after Rainmaker was dismasted and the pro crew and owner abandoned off the US N Atlantic. I also assumed the remaining ones might get extended (ie a different model now) and new beefier rigs as is the case here. Unfortunately and inexplicably they removed the boards which takes it out of the high performance category and puts it in its own category of tight hulls, less features (ie. A/C) deep draft and way too much money in design and carbon. I can't help but think the Gunboat name is just so cool it has become iconic like I suppose Gulfstream Jets that amongst a certain set to be able to say one owns a GB is the point. In which case $2 mil might seems rather affordable. Having said that, the name and its niche of super high performance is certainly larger than the number built and that alone keeps prices up. The visibility is amazing if less than safe or secure, but with Vandals beefier rig one should feel better here. So while I dream of one as a high performance sailor myself I'm not sure many would suggest a normal GB55 for a cruising couple, these boats are a handful and easy to flip and sadly I have heard maintenance is well beyond average.
@LesiavanderWoman
@LesiavanderWoman Жыл бұрын
hi. could you explain why GB55 are easy to flip? is it because 55 is too small? or that specific design? that GB 55 Rainmaker didn't flip in 70 knots squalls.I guess broken mast is lesser problem than a flip.

I do like this boat, but what is the point of a Gunboat without dagger boards. Like buying a Porsche with 185 tires. These boats come normally with folding centre boards. Also all of these boats were built in the USA, not SA or France. They had a design flaw, at 55ft. They were not stable, hence they were retro lengthen to 57 ft. I wondered why this boat has been for sale for so long. ( La Vagabonde) did a video as well. So, now I know. Still a very handsome beast and for $1.5 mil, used, very competitive with a new Outremer .

Not sure in what world the designers live in. It must be kumbaya world. The large amount of thefts that happens around the world to boats and cruisers is astounding. Whether you're at the marina or at an anchorage. But to design a "live aboard" that can be breached with a box cutter is grossly negligent. Most everyone knows you must secure you outboard in most parts of the world otherwise it will disappear at night. But with this design, those midnight bandits will steal everything.
