As an irish person it really makes me wonder why germans love coming here
@11Kralle9 жыл бұрын
+robert flynn When I was in Ireland (mostly Cork and the rural parts of the south) it felt like East-Germany in the 1980s to me - so that could be an explanation for you.
@mop2mop9 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I never thought of that, would've had to see it for myself. Is that really something to remember though?
@11Kralle9 жыл бұрын
robert flynn It is not 100% a compliment on Ireland - I was there in December of 2002 and it had all those fine shades of smutty colors, wrecked infrastructure and an overall melancholic aura, which made me feel like home. BUT: the Irish were absolutely nice people, honest communicators and lacked that certain quirkyness other germans cast on each other. So if we go abroad, our main purpose is to avoid other krauts - I spoke ''for hours'' with ugly chicks from Hannover once in Limerick (great city to get shot...), praying they won't guess my nationality right...
@mop2mop9 жыл бұрын
Well the weather is never something we have to boast about to be fair but as a people we are mostly open to tourists of any kind to see and explore the country. Keep out and as a far away from limerick as possible and stay to galway and cork, that's where ireland really is
@11Kralle9 жыл бұрын
robert flynn I liked Limerick very much - it was a sunny 29. of December, high-noon and the streets were empty of all signs of life! Just like my hometown in 1985 at the baltic-sea! The only thing missing were the MiG-21s breaking the sound barrier every 20 minutes. But the gunshots and some annoying girls made it good again.

I looked at this again, and I think it is amazing that few wished/dreamed for material possessions (having significant monetary value). The closest thing was a car. I am from the US and I am sure that the majority of random people would request winning the lottery, new home, etc....Different mind-set or cultural values, very refreshing.

Good point, dinicti. It was actually very hard to find anyone at all (besides the kids) with material wishes. To be fair, the girl that wanted the car wished for something non-materialistic first and I specifically asked if there was any particular "thing" she would like to have. (I guess I didn't want to look so bad, wishing for my stupid camera.) Also, a lot of people didn't make it into the video, because they didn't have any wishes at all. They were just plain happy.
