and in fast spoken vietnamese, I often say for example "21 = hai mốt (without "mươi" in the midle), 25 = hai lăm, 55 = năm lăm, 77 = bảy bảy etc... and for number like 21, 31,... 1 should be pronuonced "mốt" not "một"

when you write, you used Hai mươi lăm when you speak, you used hai lăm ( say quick ) or hai mươi lăm.

@DigitalMonsterFan I know it's actually "Hai mươi mốt" and "Ba mươi mốt" but Vietnamese ppl don't say that clearly. they say "hai mốt" and "ba mốt" for shorten. but I mean she didn't mention the exception for 21 and 31. others will misunderstand and say "hai mươi một" "ba mươi một" like 25, it's pronounced "hai mươi lăm" 21 is pronounced "hai mươi mốt" not "hai mươi một"

On the number 5 nam can awesome mean years so thats why people say muoi lam meaning 15 while muoi nam means 10 years!

@jahammercrazy Lots of English and Americans drop their Ts. I don't like it when a teacher does not speak her native language properly either, but it's not a big deal. @xuan200 Why is it so hard to explain you =.,=? 10 (mười) + 5 (năm) = 15 (mười + năm) But the pronunciation was changed to make the word sound a little easier *I guess* So we must speak it "mười lăm" instead of "mười năm" Only "10 years" is "mười năm" Hope it clear up all your confusion ^^!
