I actually love the new Tiempo 8. The new quad-fit makes the shoes really comfortable. My foot broke in right away, while it takes at least 5 games to break in with 7. My first touch with 8 is much better than with the 7. For some reason, it is harder to juggle the ball with 8 though.

(Long question) if you are to create your “ultimate football boot”, what would you have for the: Upper - (ie leather, synthetic leather or knitted) Midfoot - Heel counter - (internal or external) Sole plate - ie what kind of stiffness and choose a sole plate from any boot Lacing system - ie how deep, is it central, leaning towards medial or lateral side of the boot? Any extras? - ie technology such as netfit, quadfit, striking elements etc. ACC or no ACC? What colourway? Lastly, what logo would you have on the boot? A swoosh? Three stripes? Run bird? So we speak about the large football manufacturing oligopoly (Nike, Adidas, Puma) and how much demand is generated for their products on a top-line basis (Revenues); do the Boot Nerds have a better idea of the costs to produce a Leather vs. Synthetic vs. Hybrid boot and therefore margins? From an absolute perspective that is - all high end for example. I feel like this info would be insightful while also providing a perspective on the velocity of cutting back production and marketing behind Leather boots. Thanks!

The best boots I wore for outdoor were copa mundials, adi 4sl and now copa17.1. Always loved that plush slightly padded feel on top of the laces. Futsal would lean more synthetic... As prefer less of a padded feel but more of a responsive rock hard feel especially from passing

I’m 14 and I have never experienced a leather boot but I will say in the past year I have noticed more girls I play and on my team wear copas and puma ones over mercurials but I do agree that leather boots won’t ever make a full comeback but will never die

Favorite: synthetic, because in Norway, when playing with leather boots on incredibly dry AG pitches, makes the leather dry and gives it an incredible amount of grip, making the ball stick to my boots and getting horrible first-touches...

Synthetic is only worth getting if you get the top end boots. While leather boots are usually soft at any level. Synthetic will always be a hit or miss.

Leather uppers any day... sure a bit of nuisance to take care of but the quality of the upper and touch it provides is simply great. Certain synthetic boots are fine but they can be extremely hit or miss at times

Can only give my own experience, yes they are. They've been holding better than AG Tiempos or Vapor 12 pros. If you're in doubt then try to get your hands on Monarcida Neo 2 MiJ.

Sweaty feet in synthetics is not nice at all, plus I feel more prone to getting an injury in super thin synthetic (that might be an age thing), so I prefer leather. I also think the plastic synthetics are gimmicky for kids with their super bright designs where they change some colours a bit and call it a new boot costing £50 more than the last one.

Leather is the best material, without question. Not sure what the word is in enlgish but in Spanish it is "pliegues," i think it means dimpling, makes all the difference. Even if stiff at first, any leather boot will feel like a glove of worn only bu you once broken in, and will only ever feel better. That makes the lowest quality leather boot as good as the highest quality synthetic in terms of fit, just due to the material. Nevermind touch, leather also gives an unattainable touch/feel. You can make it súper thin for barefoot feel, or thick for a padded, classic touch. Nothing like leather, i will wear it forever

Insole - is it the most underrated part of football boot? I always use Currex insole (thanks Josh for the review couple of years ago), and as a boot enthusiastic I love that when I try different new shoes, the insole is moulded to my foot and it has great cushion. This way I get to test different uppers and soleplates, without getting feet pain. I feel like the insole hasn't really improved over the years (okay some grip increase maybe). Cleatpro from currex is designed for football type sport and it has better arch support. If you demand 250 euros for elite level shoe, surely you can invest more to insole. I bet this isn't original but: build your dream boot from picking qualities from existing boots. Is the AG soleplate developing to be too similar to the FG one? And would be nice to hear some statistic from Unisport (even from just one freshly released model) what's the percent in sold FG vs AG, which is more popular and how clearly? Grip laces, total gimmick?

Leather. Anything that I wear that isn’t leather doesn’t sit well with me. I can’t do the tricks or hacks with double socking or sizing up or down when i do synthetics tbh. Leather molds to shape of my foot. The touch is natural and great. It’s a padded protection, and the comfort❤️

Josh I have a question for you... You were complaining about the amount of layers between the leather and your foot in the new Tiempo Legend 8 Elite... Do you realize how thin the layers are? The touch is as good as the Tiempo Legend 7 Elite if not better. The softness of the leather and the new quilted upper design has an amazing feel on the ball. Do you really think that those 2 extra layers of quadfit and flyknit running through the underside of the boot make a big difference in touch? For me, it has no effect.

Not recommended. Although it depends a lot of which boot you're thinking about, if the boot has conical studs which aren't overly long then it can work just fine on modern AG pitches. But if the model has AG and FG options, then the AG is always superior and safer option.

If I had to choose I would wore: 1. Snythetic Leather 2. Leather 3. Knit I love Leather the most but I don't think that a full Leather boot could be as low volume as a Vapor 11 for example. That's why the Mizuno Morelia Neo 2 is my favorite boot. It is low volume but at the Toe Box the touch is like a classy leather Boot. Edit: I just don't like knitted boots at all. They feel cheap and never fit me, but I'll try the Vapor 13 because the Vapor was always my favorite boot.

I disagree. People love leather boots. Professionals may prefer synthetic but leather is popular amongst the average joes be it pickup or Sunday league. They’re comfortable and have an amazing touch on the ball.
