I always cut as economically as possible. Use the corner or edge if you can.

Learned a couple new techniques with this one. I like how you used the plane to level the edges. It had never occur to me to think about that

Just picked up a lap skiving knife and am about to make a quick sheath like you did. Would be great to see how you wrapped it.

I made a similar sheath/cover for one of my skiving knives a couple of years ago, but here's something that might amuse you The thread I used was the string from a yo-yo that the kids had broken and stopped playing with. It was braided white synthetic just about the right diameter and length As it was only for me, and would spend it's time in my tool cabinet or on the bench, it was not so important if the quality was not top class And I remember that the leather was from a cheapo credit card wallet that the bank was giving away at some time Handsome is as handsome does!

If you drop the knife cover does it now come back to your hand? :D:D In the beginning I used to use waxed bow string as I was into archery at the time. Even twisted dental floss works a charm!

i just finished making a sheath 20 minutes before i seen this video. almost same shape as yours. the end of mine is more rounded. i made my kiridashi style knife from a file 3 weeks ago. spent about 4 hours sharpening it. it slices leather like a dream.

I see you are using The Jerom David titanium awl. I also bought watching your review and recently bought the needle from the same company and made an awl myself. It costs me only the needle. I have a similar torch to yours but did not think to heat my leather stuff. bought for cooking and other purposes.

What is the size of Your awl blade?
@LeathercraftMasterclass7 ай бұрын
It's tapered, so it depends on how far you push it through. It came with the awl.

Was that beeswax or paraffin you used on the edge?
