I have the wave plus and the same molle sheath and i carry the extender and the 2 full bits sets in my sheath put the extender upside down then put the bit set in then the tool and it fits just fine been edcing this set up for 2 yrs now and nothing has every fallen out

It’s a great sheath, especially if you want to carry all the Leatherman accessories with you.

Seems if your paying more and more for each model they upgrade they would do the same with the sheath I think their not thinking how us users would think plus is the plier jaws better for gripping than the normal charge plus thanks

Any idea what is used to tighten/loosen hinges? I usually see torx on leatherman but those look like flat thumb screws

I'm currently collecting these and just recently bought two Charge ALX models in black oxide. I don't know about the ALX. It's a nice tool but it's lacking in my opinion. I'm also used to carrying the Wave so that could be why I say that.

How would you rate this one against the G10 version? Apart from the blade steel, which do you prefer? Really like your videos, thanks for all the great info.

It's really all about preference. I think I prefer this model better if your are working in environments where your hands are more apt to be dirty or oily. I think the G10 will absorb some of that over time and will not clean quite as effectively. The G10 scales are going to have a bit more flash and offer a little better grip.

Does your black charge plus has double washers on the main blade? I received mine today and I noticed that it is very difficult to open the main blade with one hand and I looked closer and found that it has only one small washer on one side but the rest of the outside tools all have doubles and they all feel very smooth to open. I’m not sure if it’s just mine or it is just normal and they all come like this way. Great video btw

Tom Sawyer I ordered this one direct from Leatherman. There doesn’t seem to be any available on Amazon at the moment. When they become available, I will get the links updated. I really like this model. It is probably my favorite of the Charge series.

2 comments/questions: 1) doesnt the standard charge+ come with anodized aluminum scales? 2) how does oxide coatings look when scratched? Does the stainless color look ugly when it bleeds through?

Standard Charge+ does come with black scales. This version just has black oxide tools. It will also come with a different sheath as well. Both versions are fine, it is just a matter of personal preference as to which you like more.

from handles, no chance, it's a very special process which makes the black permanent.

An awl is easy enough to implement; just grind a spare bit into an awl and carry it in the bit kit. I've ground a spare bit into a sim pick and watch pin tool. Personally I think the only way this tool could be better is getting rid of the serrated knife for outside scissors. The empty scissors slot could be made into the package opener on the wingman. I mean, if we're dreaming they could also use the Surge's file/saw exchanger! To me, a serrated blade on a MT is waste of prime real estate; in a pinch a regular blade will suffice for just about anything a serrated would be ideal for. I know you lose the gut hook in that instance as well, but again, I think in a pinch you could figure it out with a regular blade.

PS Im not the only one,that after using Vic,found out the huge difference,in termes of quality,functionality,utility,ergos,no palm pinching and many more.Only advantage I see with Leatherman,is the 2 sec faster opening blade but losing that advantage,on other tools where the Spirit is easier and faster.

It's 25%more than surge And 60%more than wave around here (not US) ...I have my Wave since 2006. But if I started now, I would suggest me or new comer to skip Wave and go Charge. My personal reason is if I got wave now, eventually I would want to upgrade to Charge later but if I started with Charge, then I wouldn't look back... Ofcourse, it's an investment. I can say either will serve you for decades. Surge is also nice but too big for me. There really is a "significant" difference between Wave and Charge in both price and Feel of quality.

I can see the smaller size multitool market segment still has big opportunity, pocket-able, women, colorful, city, teens, keychain. Even pen-based or minimal-ish is still sell-able eventhough I myself prefer the Wave Wingman P4 sized.
