Thank you for an awesome review. Very well edited. I appreciate showing footage of the can opener etc in use. I know how it works, but I still want to see these kind of things when I watch a review. It's a tool, I want to see it being used. Very well done, thanks again for taking the time to make such an excellent video. Subscribed.

Another point, I like that you actually took the time and demonstrated the various tools and did the research as to the materials from which they are made. Too many vids on here where the presenter has not done his research. I subscribed. Look forward to more vids.

Congratulations for this great review of the Rebar. I liked to see the tool in action, and the pros and cons. I have a Rebar and use it as part of my E.D.C. gear. I have worked many times with the tool and i think that it´s excellent. About the stifness in opening and closing the tools inside the Rebar i have noticed that too, but i´ve put a litlle oil like WD40 and it works just fine, now they all open and close very easily.

+robert childers Thanks. I got tired watching other people struggle through the reviews trying to explain every tool, so I just decided to do a decent job of showing how the tools actually work.

Great review of the Rebar! In my opinion, I have to add another con, which is that it doesn't bring scissors with it. And you need to be very careful if you cut fruit, afterwards clean it with water, otherwise it will be rusted (although it is made of stainless steel)
@theknifeconnection9571
@theknifeconnection9571 8 жыл бұрын
Fruits have acids that increase the speed of rusting. And why wouldnt you clean it after you cut fruit. It will leave residue and make the blade sticky. Just a simple paper towel will do the job. Also they're tools aren't highly polished like the case which doesn't resist rust as much being unpolished

This is one of my favorite tools. If it had scissors it would be perfect, but I carry a Victorinox Minichamp on my keychain as well, so that kind of makes up for it.

Hey there, Just got myself the Rebar about a week ago. Love it. Very useful. It is forever on my belt. It is cash well spent. It is my 1st Leatherman. More can I say Gearaholic, said it all. :) Oh yes the saw is real handy so is the Lanyard loop. I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. Yeah I know in South Africa, it is slightly pricey but man oh man, no regrets. I have the Black Oxide, Rebar. Why I say that I hear people say for a tool. Um it is 17! tools! - from my side so worth it. Thanks for the great review!

The tools themselves are 420hc (not stainless from what I've heard) the body (handles) is actually stainless though I'm unsure of what type. Probably same stainless that's used in appliances.

I've been considering adding a knifeless rebar to my collection for hiking and bushcraft. If I'm out in the woods I'll always have at least one other blade on me so I don't really need a knife on a multitool.

This is a smaller version of the Supertool 300. Yes it has a nice serrated safety blade which you can cut seatbelts with and I figure you can use the philips driver as a glass breaker because this tool is a lockback, not a liner lock so it is plenty capable for smacking a window without worry of the driver closing on you.
@Gearaholic

It's hard to accept a modern multitool nowadays which all of it's tools are on the inside. I would opt to save some money and go with the Sidekick or Wingman which can also be carried in the pocket with their pocket clip. Cheers Blazin'Blades

the rebar will pinch you when closing so watch out / also some of the blade tools are somewhat thin and will bend with aggressive use / great if you want a light weight tool / otherwise get the wave or supertool 300 which are both sturdier and heavyduty

I own this the mut, surge, wingman, style ps, crunch, wave, and blast. They're all great tools. To me the best in the industry. Don't get me wrong I like victorinox. But leatherman is just my style. I also own a couple Gerbers and an sog. But they're no where close to these tools.

Actually to buy one in Europe it costs €100. (Coyote color) Wave 150 standard and 170 if it’s black , surge 170 standard and 190 for black,charge plus tti €250!!! It cost me more than the spirit. Consider yourself lucky in USA lol

Ugh! I’m in a quandary. I would like a new multitool, but, I’m oddly torn between the knifeless Rebar (with a separate knife), or the Leatherman Surge. The size and weight differences are irrelevant, I just want as many tools and functions for the best price. I also like that the scissors on the Surge are big, and stronger than those on the Wave (which I already own, and have in a bugout toolkit). I love that both tools have awls, as this is a tool I commonly use. If I get the Rebar, I’d get the bit kit for it, as I have devices I repair that don’t have standard screws on them. When I bought my Wave years ago, I also got a second bit extender and kit with it, so, if I got the Surge I’d have those tools already. So, do you have any recommendations or feedback that could help me make up my mind?
@marshallferron
@marshallferron 6 жыл бұрын
My03Tundra If you're okay with the size and weight and you need the bit kit and awl then I see no reason not to get the Surge over anything else. If money is the issue then think about how long you will likely own the tool. Is an extra 40 bucks really a big deal for something you'll own for decades?
