Good to know! I generally use my Wave's blade as a backup anyway. If people ask me now I can just link to this video.

My squirt and rebar blades are used for "I shouldn't use a knife for this but I'm going to" type of cutting, so 420hc is fine for that.

That blood stain on the cutting board. Dont wash it off! It’s more badass that way

Multi tools are gateway drugs to knife addiction. Impressive results from both. I’d put the notional $100 extra into a folder rather than the 154cm.

I have a Rebar and a CRKT M16-03S (AUS 8A) as a setup. Looking to upgrade to a Benchmade Osborne 940 (with the green alu handles) It’s true, my dad has always been a knife nut, he has used his Supertool 200 for ages. Until His ex wife stole it and tossed it in a canal. My dad proceeded with (as usual) not giving a flying fuck and bought a Supertool 300. And used it for 10y. A few weeks ago he sent it back to the USA to get it fixed. You could open it up like a butterfly knife, it was battered and beaten and everything was loosened up. Nothing was broken or impaired. But it was loose. They just sent us a brand new one... a bit of a pity that we lost the one full of battlescars, but still. Epic service! They just replaced it for free. I got a Surge when I was 13y old. Still have it, it has served me a lot. I bought the Rebar a year ago bcs the Surge is too heavy and I like to have some tools on hand. It’s perfect! Lightweight and well-made

Great and relevant review as normal. The sound volume was more equal on this video so less chance to wake the family from major changes in volume between music and dialogue. THANK YOU. Not everyone watches the videos at night but I do and it makes a difference

The advantage of 420HC is that I can bring the edge back with 10 strokes aside on the bottom of a coffee cup. I am glade they have used a super steel for the blade but Im not going to rush out a buy a new one just because.. .. ..

I went from the Charge + TTi w/s30v to, the Woodland Camo Charge + w/154cm. I actually use my multi-tools hard and, I think I learned that the titanium version is more for flash. I should have maybe swapped the blades but overall, I have never seen a tool rust so badly. It was beyond what I could call reasonable. I just wanted the extra protection against the rust, especially around the tight bits, where it was rusting the worst. And I also keep great care of my tools especially after hard use. I've never had rust problems on any of my tool steel knives. So this one just baffled me. So I swapped and couldn't be happier.

Impressive since I always was happy with the edge retention of my wave, I enjoy sharpening anyways so not worth it for me.

I'd prefer the cheaper steel on the Multitool since it's not a primary blade. That way I don't mind if I use it hard and it gets dinged up.

Isn't the "Gutter Hook" a Belt cutter? I usually use it for otherwise not reachable zip ties. (When you can't reach them with pliers). And as the charge AL (the TI is more expensive) is usually lighter and not considerably more expensive than the others (at least where i live) i like it.

Holy crap in the US the charge + only cost me about $15 more than the wave +! (With the crap leather sheath)

I paid 124.99 CAD +tax for my Wave but I ended up losing it on a gig back in November and haven't been able to find it, so I went to order another one from Leatherman and realized there was literally only 12 bucks difference between the Surge and the Wave (137.44 for the surge vs 124.94 for the Wave+) and it was an extra 9.97 for engraving,locally it would have cost 18 bucks ($1/Letter plus a $10 fee for something not bought in house which is why I never got the Wave done). The Charge+ in Canada is a $35 premium over the Surge, but Aussies famously have to pay out the ass for everything because of the weak value of the AUD

how do you calculate the angle of the blade I would like to find a tool that allows me to measure it easily
@mercifulone70656 жыл бұрын
Your tests are awesome!! In the buck vs Leatherman 420hc video, the surge only got 47 cuts. In this video, it got 60. How were you able to get an extra 13 cuts? Is it sharpening technique?
@CedricAda6 жыл бұрын
yeah, or just some random human error variable. these tests are more about generals of taken alone. its why i hope others will start testing too - to iron things out like that via averages and such

Ontario Blackbird is now available in 420HC .. difference between it and the 154cm version is about 25 bucks... easier to sharpen and probably just as stainless..... but giving up a little on edge retention.....what are your thoughts?

Honestly, with most multi-tools your hands will wear out before the 420hc does. They've come a long way over the years, but still, a pocket knife they are not. For major cutting jobs, a comfortable handle is almost as important as the blade... get a knifeless Rebar and put the money you've saved towards a quality knife.

The upgrade over the wave ($80 here) to the charge Al ($110) is worth it . The charge tti ($170) is not worth it.

Okay, I don't get 20% is not the angle he would want on EDC knife, yet that is the angle he put on these knifes. Dude, if 20% angle is not the angle you prefer, why the fuck didn't use all the fancy equipment you've got and put the angle on them that you did want?!?!?! sheesh.
