I have been fence-sitting on a Leatt neck brace 5.5 purchase. Pro enduro riders seem to have dispensed with neck braces, but I am a learner not a pro. I am looking at a Leatt 5.5 purchase as “training wheels” as I start hitting medium jumps - before I learn to land jumps consistently - not become another Friday Fail. It seems cheap insurance versus the neurosurgery suite. But it only works if I wear it. How hot are they in summer? How restrictive with a FF helmet? Part of my fence-sitting is that I am on the line between S/M and L/XL. Should I size up or size down? I have not found any video of enduro riders wearing Leatt neck braces discussing their trail usability. Local word-of-mouth is not positive. Forums talk about visibility restriction and not being able to look into turns on switchbacks, which increases the risk of crashing. Maybe this channel can put Leatt neck braces on enduro or downhill riders on the trail? That would be more useful than a shop talk video. Thank you for this content. Thanks also for any feedback you may provide.

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, we have no plans on having a video of someone using the neck brace while riding. We personally thought the 5.5 Neck Brace was the best. It's true that neck braces are more restrictive in regards to moving your head, but it can prevent serious injury. If you are in between sizes, then size up.

@@SpeedAddictsTV Thank you belatedly. I ended up buying an Atlas brace in medium size per the sizing chart and wish I would have bought a large. It's not a terrible fit, but the front and rear gripper paddles ride upward on my chest. The chin on my helmet taps the front of the brace whenever I look down at my cockpit. The Atlas brace will meet my needs for sessioning steep lines and pump tracks but it's not something I will wear regularly. The large-XL Leatt 5.5 might have been a better choice because of its adjustability. No worries though - the Atlas is only "training wheels" while I learn to jump my new Ripmo.

Can I use these for biking on the road?

It's mainly for dirt/moto use. I've never heard anyone wear a neck brace while road riding.

They have the STX and STX RR in carbon fiber. The second allows you for a more tuck stance on a super sport while the first is more upright.
