You asked how good it looks live, well Worlds 2019 is the only one that used actual Hologram technology if you go back and check, that's why some people were disappointed with this one also the characters would show up on the screens for the audience but they can't see them on stage without special Augmented Reality glasses. The Galio at the end looked like the dragon effect from Worlds 2017 which is the earliest use of the tech in worlds and it's done worst than back then, people were disappointed because the technology in this worlds is actually a step backwards.....ill spare you all the animation render issues talk. But hey most people liked it and that's all that matters.

I heavily recommend the full opening ceremonies for 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019. You'll love 2019 especially. You only saw GIANTS from 2019, they had a lot more than just Giants. Edit: disclaimer, 2014 has a song by imagine dragons that is prone to being copyright striked.

We went from not sure if there was gonna be a Worlds at all to this, I'll take it. Obviously it's not the insane top production, but how are you gonna do that under these circumstances. So well done by the RIOT team who does all this, so well put together and I loved every second of it. Like shit they couldn't even have live performers apart from Lexie Liu, the voice of Seraphine in MORE and that's only because she already lives in China, while everyone else does not.

I'd even say from a production point of view it wasn't bad. I mean this didn't look cheap at all and the fighting scene is something "typical chinese" (from westerners point of view) like they had with the big korean drums a couple of years ago during worlds in South Korea.

I feel like people underrated the "Warriors" portion of the performance. Although not much visually was happening, I think it was a great way to show the strength of the community coming together during this pandemic. Them simply standing together in solitude with that anthem playing was almost enough to bring me to tears. Don't forget that this took place in China, and that these people have been hit so hard, yet they still came together to make this happen.

I think that rendition of warriors has a way of stirring some emotions with the full sounding chorus. It sounds like a literal crowd of people is singing and then visually seeing them standing together was pretty cool; I agree. It definitely gave me some chills as well.

Just want to shout out you commenting on Riot doing what they could to bring this to everyone. The whole world it going through Covid and the fact that they pulled off what they were able to with all the obstacles happening globally right now is astounding. Anyone who rags on this opening ceremony needs to take a step back and truly grasp how difficult this worlds was to pull off. I agree, wasn't as hype or great as past worlds, but it also was above my expectations of what I thought they were going to be able to do given the circumstances. I also guarantee when they started planning this worlds before Covid hit, this was not what Riot had envisioned either and it probably hurt them to know they weren't going to be able to give the show they also wanted. A lot of people are saying that Worlds Opening Ceremony was lackluster, which I kind of agree with. But, I applaud and heavily appreciate riot for going out of there way to make the best out of what they had. I still liked the performance and was happy with what we got. The team at riot didn't have a full year preparation like other years. They couldn't get the outside artists because of covid, so they worked with and used Lexie(the singing voice of Seraphine in KDA) They reason why the 2018 and 2019 Worlds was so cool was because the team had the complete time to prepare and perfect the models/holograms and gather the artists. They couldn't do that. So, I'm appreciative that riot used what they had and brought us a performance that was still cool nonetheless. The reason why there were so many songs was because those were the Worlds theme from past years and it's the 10 anniversary

In such hard times where some countries have lockdowns that make you unable to simply leave your house, I'm glad we got what we got, taking into consideration of the circumstances all around the world, and as many foreign artists are a big contributing factor to these ceremonies as well as the crowd, I'm happy they did what they could for their community, rather than saying it's cancelled due to covid.

I watched Worlds and immediately came here for Scru's reaction. The only honest reaction out there, fam. We just gotta be grateful that we even got to see a worlds this year, and to have it hosted in a country that got mega hit by covid. Man, I think it was pretty good. The CGI was FIRE. I was definitely feeling a bit let down, but it's completely understandable. They could only do so much with the quarantine restrictions, and I'm sure they would have loved to have brought in the actual KDA singers for the live performance. People saying it was trash were definitely not keeping the performance in context. Not every year can be Giants with a stage holonet! They invested a ton of money into the rest of worlds with all the stages being augmented reality and shifting locations. Definitely recommend checking out the behind the scenes video, even if it's not a reaction.

The easiest way to tell which are the projections are just the shadows. Everytime they move in front of a light source, you will see the projections cast no shadows, while the backup dancers behind them or around them do. But they still look pretty damn realistic ngl.

That scene where he cried was when his team were supposed to be back-to-back-to-back world champions, but they lost. the second person was Rekkles, signed to "Fnatic (FNC)" he's a bottom laner from Europe, often considered as the Best European AD Carry, he cried there because his team at the time didn't even qualify for quarter finals, he has never won a world champion, he's played competitively for 6 years now, he's one of the very few people that isn't a world champion, but is very famous, and people know he should be, he cried because he thought of retiring, fortunately he still hasn't retired and he swore to be a world champion before he does The third person was Peanut, a korean jungler, at that time he was signed to "ROX Tigers (ROX)" a chinese team, but the year before that, he was signed with Faker on SKT, supposedly he was to learn how to be better from SKT, move back to ROX, and win the world championship, ironically, ROX lost to SKT that year, that's why Peanut cried

I know that kind of powerful move may not be possible wearing mocap equipment, but still I can't shake the feeling that they shouldve at least tried something more powerful than twirling, more or less...

If you can remember, the Gucci box is the box from True Damage, Giants Live performance! This wasn't the best but hey! At least KDA had the stage for themselves. I mean the virtual group actually has spotlight for the first time with not much to their counter parts since all of the counter parts of the former KDA members were the same in the last KDA live performance but to me this is actually quite good. A step up to the last one, tbh!

To answer your questions, the cgi doesn't exist for the live performance at all. They can display it on the screens though. The second part is the previous world's songs in a medley. The teams that they flashed in the X are the teams that didn't make it to finals. The leviathan is Galio that the crowd didn't see. As for problems with the performance, I'm pretty sure some of the scenes weren't live and neither were most of the singing/instrumentals. Also no one likes a children's choir. When people say this ceremony wasn't good, we are comparing it to previous years, even if you don't consider the crowd, this was definitely worse.

A huge amount of Performers couldn’t get to this ceremony, they could only drag people who were already in China into it, so it’s a feels bad that this year couldn’t top True Damage last year, but it’s fine bc of the pandemic

the only criticism i can give towards this year's execution, is they forgot the interaction with reflective surfaces such as the floor, which sorta made the gap between cgi and solid objects a lot more visible but when the floor is not visible, such as closeups, hella perfect
