The references to slavery, in August 1619 enslaved africans landed at Point Comfort. The radio station in the car was 1619 and the signs on the motorway said Point Comfort as a reference. The ship was called White Lion, the first Slave Ship to come to America. Some of the food items in the bunker had a cultural reference: Aunt Jemima, Uncle Bens, Indian Head Corn Meal and Trader Mexican Beer.

I know it's petty, but that little girl breaking into a multi-million dollar mansion by breaking a window was some serious PLOT ARMOR. Then you had to suspend your belief even more when she opened the PANIC BUNKER by just pulling on the handle. Even those of us with regular homes know that it's not that easy to gain entrance to a home. Since this was probably a second home, you know that it probably should have been secured even more.

I like the film but I had some challenges with the character of the daughter - ( Ruth) I thought at times the way she spoke to her father wasn’t culturally sound . It’s seemed off - I also thought her smoking with Ethan was a stretch . And the fact that they tried to have Julia Roberts and Marshella be attracted to each other didn’t seem honest and rooted in character . The story pacing was great and I loved the chapter break down

I thought the unusual behavior of the animals was explained when the news stated something to the effect that what was happening was causing a change in the migration pattern of animals. Hence, very unusual for pink flamingos in New York.

seems weird that the flamingos show up after one day. Migration takes from a week to several weeks. These flamingos were there overnight. It seems weird that the animals were affected so suddenly by things that were supposedly targeting ppl. I would assume that it would take a while for deer and weird migrations to happen.

Point taken. I think we can learn that things intended to affect people can also unpredictably affect other things like our wild life, air quality. It can become a chain reactions with consequences not intended or unforeseeable. The timing of the flamingo to get there overnight is questionable 🧐. Perhaps the director did that for impact PINK flamingos were memorable.

I wonder if the animals migration and weird behavior is from a magnetic poleshift?

I enjoyed the film. It makes you realize how unprepared the general public is if one of these events come to life. The Keven Bacon character has his sh*t together. He probably be the only one that survives long term.

I am sick of these dystopian so called thrillers/think pieces. It was missing something, I wanted it to flow differently. The plot reveal was also lackluster.

The ending should have at least showed them working their way to the Thorns house with the bunker and had Gh and the dad going there last with the son. I am glad the dad took a stand to fight for his son's life. The son had an infection from an insect bite and radiation poisoning which was probably intensified because his mouth was open during one of the sonic attacks and he got a decent dose of microwave radiation there. He had an infection and radiation sickness and needed iodine tablets and antibiotics( which cost $1000) or he would have died. The funny thing is that money will end up being worthless. Only bartering will have any value at that point. 😢

Just finished watching it. I liked the movie. I didn't care for the ending. I guess I could say that both families got to the bunker. But I wonder if this is predicting programming, especially with the Obamas being the executive directors.

I liked the acting of everyone in this film. Mahershala ali, I probably saw for the first time and I was left impressed. Looking forward to him taking the mantle of Blade (if it happens). Young actress who played the role of his daughter did a phenomenal job and needless to say anthing about Julia and Ethan, both are greats of silver screen. Regarding the film, I liked it all the way until that ending shot and that unfortunately spoiled the experience for me because that kind of situation cannot be reached that quickly and the only thought the ending left me with was the same most films of present time leave me with, which is that good actors keep on falling victim to lousy story writing !

the movie was perfectly explained to me. the only question left to interpretation was the deer, and even that was explained
@marcblair3781

it was explained...but at the same time everything that was explained was hearsay...so if u believe everything then the movie's enough...but the way the movie was presented, it made it seem like everything is a theory until it's confirmed...and nothing is ever confirmed, so I understand why a lot of ppl want that confirmation.

@@marcblair3781 this isn't that type of a movie. this movie provokes speculation, theorizing, conversation. this isn't Taken, where we have the big bad villain, followed by a revenge plot.

I'm not sure what 'type of movie' you're referring to. I never implied it was supposed to be straightforward movies like Taken. I'm aware what the movie is intending to do. The ending could've been different and leaned in the direction of any kind of confirmation and still be thought-provoking. I'm not saying it has to be an outright confirmation of one of the theories in the film. You said the movie was perfectly explained to you and the only thing left to interpretation was the deer. If that's the case then it wouldn't provoke speculation or theorizing, since you're saying you already got it. @@marcusinHD

So much symbology in this film. You should watch some of the breakdown vids on the symboli😢in this movie. From the name on the oil tanker to 1619 on tge radio to "obey" "nasa" on the tee shirts. Predictive programming at its finest. Something I keep seeing which irks me is how different races, black and white mostly ,seem to be offended. There are those who see the movie as "black people bad" to those that see it as "white people bad". The movie is for sure more than that. I wouldn't label the movie great but it was good.

I loved the movie & the ambiguous ending. I understood Amanda's reaction to GH and his daughter showing up in the middle of the night. I think overall the movie had a positive ending which I liked, but since it was open ended, it was up to the viewer to decide & extrapolate.

The ending made me laugh so hard, don't get me wrong it was perfect for the movie. I don't understand how some folks didn't like it,,,, but they did make it to the bunker , the actors said it in an interview, even tho it's not on screen. And personally I really like how the movie ended because it allows the audience to Take a guess, we were lost throughout the whole movie yes, but an open ending is top tier.

I enjoyed the film, it gave me a lot to think about , but I do believe some of the scenes could’ve been shorten, The dancing & pot smoking especially, except keep the flamingos in the pool . Now , Julia & Ethan relationship dynamic should’ve been obvious Julia’s the Oscar winner so of course she’s going to have a slightly stronger role over Ethan , but as usual folks went low vibrational talking gender foolishness.. My thoughts why many had issues with the film , they didn’t like the ambiguous ending , and the clues given went over their heads .
