Dispensationalism almost ruined my mental health. I was stuck in it for 4 years after I became a Christian in college and was utterly miserable. When God revealed reformed theology to me, it was almost like being converted a second time. So glad God freed me from the slavery of that man-made system.

@@wojo9732 The falling away and the revelation of the man of sin are intimately connected. The falling away results in the revelation of the man of sin. The man of sin is not revealed because the church is taken out of the way. He is revealed because the church loses its saltiness and becomes good for nothing but the be cast out and trampled by men. But that trampling will result in good. It will turn for a testimony and bring many to repentance. If you know the Scriptures, you know what is being explained above. I did come to faith through Jesus out of a fear when a friend read parts of revelation. Being a dispensational church, I grew up believing in the pre-trib rapture. I have sense back off of my stance, and have not really come to terms with the best approach. I can see all of the different positions have their pros and cons. I was never afraid because I "knew" with my faith that I would be raptured. As I relaxed more, I found that while scary, it woiuld be interesting to live through the tribulation. No, as I said, I am not dogmatic about it, and figure that it will all "pan out"

I was not brought up to fear the Second Coming. Jesus was coming back for me! I loved 1 Thessalonians 4, where it says the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will rise first. It was only later that I learned about the rapture, the tribulation, the millennial kingdom, and heard people arguing about it. As a believer in Christ, I didn’t get it. Jesus promised He is coming back for His own. That’s an exciting thought for me and I can’t wait!

This is such a good topic to discuss. I lean towards historic premillennialism. While I can understand the amil or even the postmil view, to a point, I have a hard time reconciling those views with Revelation 20, where there are two resurrections, each resurrection being separated by the 1,000 year reign of Christ; one at the beginning, one after the end of it. 1st Corinthians 15 seems to compress these two resurrections and the 1,000 year reign of Christ into one event, giving only a very basic overview of the end times. In John 6, a case can be made that Jesus means that the resurrection at the Last Day is the second one in Revelation 20, at the Great White Throne Judgment. Meanwhile, Isaiah 65 appears to be speaking of the millennial period and the new heavens and the new earth simultaneously. How much of Revelation takes place in visible, physical reality, and how much is symbolic or spiritually-manifested is a valid question. I don't know. And not being a teacher, I couldn't say. This is why I am using indefinite language. These are mere observations I've made about these texts.

I am still uncertain on the end times. I think part of this left behind fear is not driven by eschatology per-say but a bad soteriology that overemphasizes subjective assurance (eg. lordship salvation, fruit inspecting, conditional security). The eschatology that would cause this fear would rather be the partial rapture theory that says unfaithful Christians are not raptured. Unfortunately those that are free grace in the pretrib camp seem to put even more emphasize on news watching for prophecy for some reason.

What frustrates me about this topic (eschatology) is that Tim Lehaye, Harold Camping and the like are regularly interacted with in the Amil/Covenental camp, but orthodox pre-tribbers are ignored. As one who leans towards Dispensationalism there are things in scripture that are very clear, including 2 different returns of Christ, one in the air where he calls his church and takes them to heaven (1 Thess 4), and several mentions of his earthly return (Rev 19, Matt 24 etc.), as well as the collapse of Babylon in Rev 18 followed by a triumphal return with the "armies" that were in Heaven. What is less clear, is a literal 7 year tribulation, the rebuilding of a temple where Christ is re-instituting temple sacrifice, the mark of the beast etc.. Yet the clear mentions in scripture are rarely interacted with, and any of us who want to take a literal approach to the end times are regularly lumped in with Tim Lehaye and Harold Camping, I am sure this is not your intentions, but this is the effect in many cases. How about doing a show where the biblical positions are interacted with? Was it Lorraine Boettner who said a literal reading of the Bible would produce a Dispensational view?

As someone who was steeped in dispensational eschatology , you need to reevaluate why you are saying there is a clear two returns of Christ as you are claiming . Scripture must interpret scripture and when you look at the whole the only way you get two returns is when you impose a hermeneutical system upon the text because it requires it to make it work.

@@jgeph2.4 You clearly are not reading the passages I mentioned, you have one mentioned that is described as being "in the clouds" and several where Christ returns in judgment that is described a few ways in a few passages, it is you, my friend, who are imposing your view on scripture, not me, and it is answers like this that impeach the preterist/amil system, because you are simply dodging the question and giving the pious answer of "I used to think like you and now I have risen to a higher status". Are they the same event? Perhaps they are, but they are not described in the same fashion. So if we are caught up in the clouds to be with him, then we come right back down in Rev 20, it makes no sense.

@@grantsmith3281 from Kim Riddelbarger A Case for AMillennialism “The Scriptures explicitly tell us that the line of demarcation between these two ages is our Lord’s second advent: “The harvest [of wheat] is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. . . . This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them in the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 13: 39-40, 49-50). This passage seems to strike a serious blow against all forms of premillennialism. Premillennialists insist that the judgment occurs at the end of the millennial age, fully one thousand years after our Lord’s return.[ 8] Indeed, this separation of the two bodily resurrections by a one-thousand-year interval has been called the “linchpin of premillennialism.”[ 9] Premillenarians arrive at this conclusion, they say, because their hermeneutic is based on a literal interpretation of the Scriptures.[ 10] But the biblical writers clearly (literally) told us that the judgment will occur at the time of our Lord’s return: “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats” (Matt. 25: 31-32; cf. Matt. 13: 40-43). Premillennialists, instead, insist that there is a one-thousand-year gap between our Lord’s return and the final judgment, the millennium of Revelation 20. Premillenarians must attempt to sidestep the clear teaching of Scripture that the resurrection (1 Cor. 15: 35-57; 1 Thess. 4: 13-5: 11; 2 Thess. 1: 5-10), the restoration of all things (2 Pet. 3: 3-15), and the judgment occur at the same time-at our Lord’s second advent. Based on a literal reading, just where is the millennial gap in these texts? Premillenarians cannot have it both ways. Even an appeal to progressive revelation fails. If the apostle John introduced a gap in Revelation 20 to explain Jesus’s earlier teaching in the Olivet Discourse, then there is also a second fall of humanity to go along with it.[ 11] The problem of evil in the millennial age is a serious problem for all forms of premillennialism and is a point to which we will turn shortly. John’s Gospel is equally important regarding the resurrection and the judgment, for he taught that Jesus Christ will raise his own “on the last day,” because those who believe in the Son already possess eternal life. For believers in Jesus Christ, the first resurrection has already come to pass (cf. John 5: 24-25 with Rev. 20: 4-5). Those who are Christ’s have already crossed over from death to life and will be raised at the last day (John 6: 39-40, 44). When our Lord consoled Martha after the death of Lazarus, Martha said, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day” (John 11: 24). When we consider Paul’s comments that the sinful nature, but not the spirit, will be destroyed on “the day of the Lord” (1 Cor. 5: 5); that the resurrection occurs “at the last trumpet” (1 Cor. 15: 52); that “the day of the Lord” will come as a thief (1 Thess. 5: 2); and that it is still future (2 Thess. 2: 2), an impressive case can be made that the resurrection, the judgment, and the re-creation are all concomitant events. This presents a serious problem for all premillennialists (whether they be dispensational, progressive, or historic) who insist on separating the resurrection and the final judgment by a future one-thousand-year earthly reign of Jesus Christ over a halfway redeemed earth. The Scriptures do not allow for such a gap nor for such unredeemed elements to exist in the age to come after the eschaton. The most serious problem faced by all premillenarians is the presence of evil in the millennial age. Recall that the thousand years depicted in Revelation 20 begin with the binding of Satan when he is prevented from deceiving the nations. When the thousand years have ended, Satan is released and again deceives the nations. This culminates in a worldwide revolt against God’s people and a fiery and final judgment from heaven on Satan and his cronies, the beast and the false prophet. If the thousand years do not begin until after the second coming of Christ, as premillenarians insist, then we must pointedly ask, Who are these people who are deceived and then revolt against Jesus Christ? We have already seen from several passages in the Gospels and Paul’s letters that the resurrection, judgment, and re-creation have already occurred at the coming of Christ. This age of things fallen and temporal has already come to an end. The age to come of immortality, resurrection life, and no marriage is now a glorious reality in an already/ not yet scheme. The last day has already come, and our Lord has raised his own and sent those who are not his into the fires of eternal judgment. There simply cannot be people in unresurrected bodies on the earth after our Lord’s return, for the wheat has already been separated from the weeds (Matt. 13: 37-43), the sheep have already been separated from the goats (Matt. 25: 31-46), and the elect have already been gathered from the four corners of the earth by the angelic host (Matt. 24: 30-31). Who are these people who are still on earth at the end of the millennial age who revolt against Christ? Are they the redeemed? If so, the premillennialist has just introduced a second fall of humanity into sin into the course of redemptive history. This time, however, we have a fall of glorified saints after the resurrection and the judgment. This simply cannot be, though premillennial commentators ignore the force of this, choosing instead to make the hermeneutical crux an overly rigid exegesis of the first resurrection of Revelation 20: 5,[ 12] often overlooking the important parallel passage in John 5: 24-25, which explicitly tells us when the first resurrection occurs-at the moment of conversion. Premillennialists, who insist on a literal one thousand years in Revelation 20: 2, do so even though the consequence of this exegetical decision is the revolt of the redeemed against the Redeemer in verses 7-10. This is problematic when it is debatable whether such numbers used in apocalyptic literature were intended by the author to be taken in a literal sense in the first place.[ 13] Is it not better to see Revelation 20 as a description of the age of the church militant and the present reign of Christ?” - A Case for Amillennialism: Understanding the End Times by Kim Riddlebarger

A Millennium Puzzle to solve… Will Christ be conducting funeral services for mortals killed in accidents 500 years after His Second Coming? The “first resurrection” in Rev. chapter 20 is not the first bodily resurrection in the Book of Revelation, because the two witnesses are resurrected from the dead in chapter 11. There are two different types of resurrection in John chapter 5. There is a spiritual resurrection from the dead in John 5:24, and a bodily resurrection from the dead in John 5:28-29. Does your view of the Millennium agree with what Paul said in 2 Thess. 1:7-10, when Paul said Christ returns in "flaming fire" taking vengeance on those who do not obey the Gospel? The fire comes at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:10-13, when Peter said this earth is going to burn and "dissolve" when He comes as a thief on the day of the Lord? The fire comes at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Paul said in 2 Tim. 4:1, when Paul said both the living and the dead will be judged at His appearing? The time of the judgment of the dead, with reward for some and destruction for others is found in Rev. 11:18, right after the 7th trumpet, which is the last trumpet in the Bible. (This verse also proves the Book of Rev. is not in chronological order.) The judgment of the dead is also found at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Jesus said in Matt. 25:31-46, where He described the judgment of the sheep and goats, which leaves no mortals alive on the planet at the end of the passage? There are also no mortals left alive on the planet at the end of Rev. chapter 19. Does your view agree with Peter in 2 Pet. 2:4, and Jude in Jude 1:6, when they both said wicked angels are already in chains of darkness? Does your view agree with what John recorded in Rev. 9:1-2, when an angel comes down from heaven with a key to unlock the pit, which means the pit was locked before that time? Are there wicked angels already in the pit in Rev. 9:11? John recorded angels already "bound" in Rev. 9:14. The beast "ascends" out of the pit in Rev. chapter 11, which means the beast was in the pit before that time. Take all of the above and compare it to the symbolic language found in Rev. chapter 20, and the fact the Book of Revelation is not in chronological order, and you will have the truth. ========================================================================================================= Multiple Second Coming Visions in Revelation: (book not in chronological order ) Christ returns one time in the future. However, there are several different visions of His return shown from different perspectives in the Book of Revelation. Christ returns at the end of Revelation chapter 6, with signs in the sun, moon, and stars, as are found in the Olivet Discourse. Those at the end of the chapter are hiding from the wrath of the Lamb. Why would they be hiding if Christ is not present? The "kings", "captains", "might men", "free", and "bond" are also found in chapter 19 at the return of Christ. He returns at the 7th trumpet, which is the last trumpet in the Bible, and the time of the judgment of the dead in Revelation 11:15-18. The beginning of chapter 12 is a history lesson containing the fall of Satan, and the birth and death of Christ, who is the seed promised to crush the head of Satan in Genesis 3:15. The Second Coming is found in the "harvest" of chapter 14, which is related to the parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew chapter 13. He comes as a thief at Armageddon, and we find the greatest earthquake in history in chapter 16. This occurs when the 7th angel pours out his vial. How powerful is an earthquake which moves islands and destroys the mountains? What is happening to the planet? He comes on a horse in chapter 19. Chapter 20? Does He come with the fire, and the judgment of the dead at the end of chapter 20, which agrees with what Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, and 2 Timothy 4:1? (The time of the judgment of the dead is also found in Revelation 11:18.) There are no mortals left alive on the planet at the end of Matthew 25:31-46. Why does an angel come down from heaven with a key to unlock the bottomless pit in Revelation 9:1-2, if the pit was not already locked before that time? Are there wicked angels in the pit in Rev. 9:11? If the beast "ascends" from the pit in Rev. chapter 11, where was the beast before that time? Does your view agree with Peter in 2 Pet. 2:4, and Jude in Jude 1:6, when they both said wicked angels are already in chains of darkness? Revelation 9:14 proves some of the angels were previously bound in some manner. Because the two witnesses were bodily resurrected from the dead in Revelation 11, the "first resurrection" at the beginning of Revelation 20 is not the first bodily resurrection in the book. The principle of "Recapitulation" means there are multiple visions of His return.

Only one Gospel: The Gospel of Reconciliation. Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself. We are the fallen angels kept in DNA chains of darkness. If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever. Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of God.

The Bible says, save some by fear and some by love.... JUST STRIVE TO SAVE THEM if you can. This is not a joke. This is not a game. Do you know who I am? Do you know what it means? As I said, this is not a joke. Whatever you do, do for Christ. It has begun. To be truly alert is not only to watch... it is to act. Put your faith in Jesus into action day to day or it in truth, it's really not faith or understanding that you have. Even the devils know who Jesus is and believe that He is the son of God, but they do not follow Him, they do not walk the narrow path. Do you? The Bible also says that FEAR of God is the beginning of wisdom and the ceasing of evil is understanding. The return of Jesus IS FEARFUL and SHOULD BE fearful for all who are lost because what comes after that is unspeakably terrible. But for the saved it is a wonderful event. Just strive to be saved. The knowledge of Jesus' return will and does give hope to the saved, those who sincerely walk the narrow path spoken of by Jesus in the scriptures... the preaching of fearful things is meant to be a WARNING for those who are ignoring the call to salvation and how to walk in its path. May I remind you one more time please, if you know who I am you also know what time it is. May it humble you and drive you into prayer and comfort if you ar a follower of the Holy Messiah. If you do not know who I am I would strongly encourage you to find out, if you can. Though I am only a man, I am a unique man. I am, quite simply put... a warning.

"For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh shall rise in the Judgment with this generation and shall condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here."

Save some with fear doesn't mean to put fear in them! It means YOU fear because you know what unbelief will get them! Hence hating even their garment that is stained. Belief gives us the garment of Christ's righteousness. Hence the one who was thrown out because he brought his own wedding garment.

The devil's cannot put their trust in Jesus Christ because they have already been judged when they left their assigned positions. Man has opportunity to repent until they die. That passage is merely saying that believing in God is not enough, we must put our trust in the one He has sent. You are using that verse out of context.

The Book of Revelation was mostly fulfilled by A.D. 70 with the destruction of Jerusalem. We will be resurrected bodily at Jesus' second coming and there is no "rapture" seven years prior. The chronology is clear in 1 Cor 15. At the coming of Jesus, the kingdom is handed over to the Father so He can then be all and in all. The 2nd coming is therefore, post "kingdom". The "kingdom" is not what the Jews thought it would be, nor is it what dispensationalists think it is. Rather, it's what Jesus said it would be. Just find every one of His descriptions of it and you'll see that it corresponds to the last 2000 years....a dragnet that gathers all manner of fish...a mustard seed that starts out tiny and grows to fill the whole Earth...a wedding in which the original guests refuse to come so that new guests are invited from the highways and byways. The time of Jacob's trouble was 3 1/2 years prior to the destruction of the Jerusalem as was recorded by Josephus. The first half of Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus' 3 1/2 year-long ministry. A 40 year gap between the two halves is where Jesus was "cut off but not for Himself" and the time of the Acts, where Israel was given a "space to repent" and the second half ended the year 70. The destruction of "mystery Babylon" is what most of the B.O.R. is about. Who was the harlot? "How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of justice; Righteousness lodged in it, But now murderers" Isa 1:21 "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it" Mat 21:43

@@graftme3168 Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and SEAL UP THE BOOK, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. This is Daniel's sealed scroll, unsealed. Genesis 1 is Lucifer and the fallen angels making man in their image. Man is an idol, a trap for angels. (tares) Genesis 1 only uses the word ELOHIM. Genesis 2:7 the Lord God forms His representative in THEIR system. (wheat) Genesis 2:4 is where the word Lord God (YHWH ELOHIM) is found. Exodus 20:4 YHWH ELOHIM forbids idols and likeness (embodiment = human host body). Jesus called you a god/angel. John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? What law? Psalm 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods (H430); and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Strongs H430 Elohim = angels, gods (little g). Right there, he called you a god (angel) that shall die like man, and fall. A fallen angel. Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. No mention of unrepentant man in Matthew 25:41. All the prophecies found in the book of Revelation have already been fulfilled in the past, including the events related to the second coming of Jesus. The book of Revelation primarily focuses on events that occurred during the time it was written, specifically in the first century A.D. The book of Revelation was written to address the immediate concerns and challenges faced by the early Christian community. The book uses symbolic language and imagery to describe events and figures that were relevant to that time period. The prophecies in the book of Revelation find fulfillment in the historical events surrounding the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. This catastrophic event, which marked the end of the Jewish-Roman war, is the fulfillment of the apocalyptic descriptions found in the book. The "second coming" of Jesus is an event that took place spiritually, rather than a physical return. Jesus' "coming" occurred in judgment against Jerusalem and the Jewish nation, with the Roman Empire acting as the instrument of divine punishment. The symbolic language and imagery used in the book of Revelation should not be taken literally but understood within the historical and cultural context that the book addresses which is the struggles and trials faced by the early Christians, providing them with hope, encouragement, and assurance that God was in control, even amid persecution and hardship.
