Link does not work?
@gracehsiung62983 ай бұрын
It is not hyperlink. Typically the author either put recipes in the Description (click the 3 dots) or a hyperlink in the comments. I just checked a few of her Short videos, only found one recipe in the Description. Kind of disappointed. Guess she still inspires us with some ideas for us to work out the methods. 😂

Eating a version of this from so many countries… rice, lentils, and onions. There is no going wrong
@daniellebower16233 ай бұрын
I love this dish! But I bring the lentils to a boil with cumin and coriander, then dump the water. Start with fresh water just to cover. Cumin, coriander, cinnamon, black pepper. When the lentil are el dente, add the soaked and drained rice. Salad with Persian cukes,, tomatoes,lettuce, lemon, olive oil. Yogurt with arugula and fresh garlic, a little salt. So good! I love your videos!!

Why dump the first boil water? Does it reduce the frothiness?

Wow. I was just reading a page where the person was a nutritionist and was discussing healthier ways of preparing white rice. He named the cultures that cook that way, but I dont remember. Basically it gets rid of the extra starch as the first water is very cloudy. He said it reduces blood sugar spikes and weight spikes if this is something you eat alot in your diet. Very interesting to read. @m.theresa1385

@@angelatruly thank you. I know about the method of dumping the first boil with rice (I believe it’s common with how some cook basmati rice), I was asking specifically about with lentils which is why I asked about frothy water. Thanks again.

One of my favorite things I learned from a lebanese family I used to be their housekeeper. I loved them. This smelled so good when I would come to their home. Many times they had this for lunch and I would get some to go. She served hers with homemade yogurt and pickled vegetables.
