Dan, Stu, and the Shipping Container finish off Hour 1 by reacting to A'ja Wilson's criticism of her teammates and discussing competitiveness in women's sports before doing Against the Spread and reminiscing on when you could smoke on an airplane. Then, Dan gives his thoughts on Skip Bayless leaving Fox and the general sports media landscape. We end the show with Stugotz's all-time Big East basketball starting lineup.

I’ve been a CONSTANT daily listener since 2010 and Dan I believe most of the regular listeners love hearing everything you have to say about the media and the current state it is in. I want to hear about your perspective and opinions on the media landscape WHENEVER possible. It’s one of the most authentic and informative segments you talk about, for many reasons but the main one being you’re a huge part of sports media and have actual stakes invested. Besides I couldn’t think of anyone better to speak on the subject than you! A person who’s been a witness to the huge transformation taken place and has been personally impacted by it. Going from local radio to National Radio to then evolve into a sports show that also made its way from only being on local channels to then on ESPN the biggest sports network to then walking away to cofound your own media company!Unlike stugotz I believe most of us diehard listeners enjoy the show so much because there’s always new knowledge being gained every show i listen to.

So happy Lucy brought up how poorly Dan positioned talking about A'ja video. Wish that this was instead a conversation of how A'ja as the leader of the team is handling the Aces first half of the season being a bit up and down after winning back-to-back titles while still only being in 3rd and what that could mean for second half of the season after the Olympic break.

If Dan's argument is regular fans don't care about sports business talk and only different fans do (don't know that I agree with that), then why not talk about your sports business. The show never talks about when or why shows leave LaF Network, and rarely talk about when they're added (until several weeks later and Dan gets people's names wrong). The show is known to navel gaze and known to talk sports business... combine them please

Dan, glad to have you back. I don’t watch the show because you saved your best friend’s son’s career when you felt betrayed by the company, I watch the show because you use to say interesting things and the shipping container was funny and because Stu’s ridiculousness was hilarious to me. You’ve bored me to near death because you have not found a way to discuss the economy around gasbags getting more money in an interesting way. It’s the same conversation every time, it’s grating at this point, Dan. Dan, you forcing Stu or anyone else to tolerate this talk is abusive atp. You’re disconnected from the rest of us and that’s ok. You’re older, you got the bag, you’re coming up on a contract year, you doubling and tripling down on this topic is only going to continue to push your core away. If you wanna talk about it so bad, why not write something? Why not reconnect with your roots? Take more days off, travel with your wife and see the world so you can open up your perspective, go see a doctor or therapist.

Dan's take on Caitlin Clark getting knocked on her ass mirrors my take since it happened: Nobody would have given half a shit if a male basketball player had knocked another male basketball player on his ass, but people didn't know what to do with it because the episode involved women. Which, to me, is ridiculous. Elite, highly competitive athletes are elite, highly competitive athletes. They're intense. They have rivalries. They play on the edge, and sometimes over the edge, in order to mess with their opponents' heads and gain advantages. We need to normalize the idea that women can AND SHOULD do this stuff the same way that the men do it.

Actually quite the opposite Dan, I think you claim to be well-informed but actually come off as reductive and ignorant on alot of topics. The way you reduce politics to poisonous and "we get the politicians we deserve" stance is you coming off as moral grandstanding. I actually think that for alot of topics you tend to exaggerate "divides" or rifts for the purpose of drumming up interest. You keep saying "Woke" when its just some nonsense term that has no value and yet you keep propping it up as if to say thats it universally accepted.

Dan should probably be a little more self aware when preaching to everybody all the boogeymen that live in his head. Lucy mentioned that she really hadn't heard anyone calling A'ja Wilson un-ladylike, but he just blew past her and kept ranting about the same things. Maybe take your female employees insights into consideration if you're going to ask for them. Also, if your wife is raising a man-baby, do better. Don't just assume all men are helpless and incapable of anything but writing about sports and talking into a microphone. Don't project your insecureties on everyone else to feel better... DO BETTER to feel better.
@CorndogSandwich

Well said, I think I agree. It was an awkward segue from his blind-spot point to A’ja, and slightly confused me what the connecting thread was. I have no problem with anything he said, but I don’t think it’s compelling or helpful content. Cathartic for him to admit it, but it doesn’t translate to audience catharsis unless we all have the same revelation of blind spots.
