A lot of the difference in W-L is the schedule and some *insane* shooting luck in December. Plus their offense was being propped up by Dame's FT and that went away when they started calling the games differently Griffin was doing stuff -- having Brook play up to touch, putting two on the ball, running Dame-Brook PnR over Dane-Giannis -- that, while kind of understandable, had zero buy in from his players Doc mostly runs a defensive system that makes sense and there are clear rules and his offense is designed around running actions his best players are comfortable with. It's not great coaching but just saying they were 30-13 then went 17-19 therefore Doc is a bad coach is overlooking a lot of context outside the coach's control

Replace the in-season final with an all star game that is two all-tournament teams. In-season final counting as an exhibition is weird, having an all star game in December, maybe guys aren't as worried about getting hurt? Prize for winning the in-season tournament all-star game thingy is you get more lenience on missed games, like maybe your number goes from 65 down to 55. The prize money isn't a real motivator for the top end guys, but those top end guys are going to be vying for post-season awards which affect their contract negotiations, so a little bit of help making the quote for all-nba could put some juice in the game
