Whenever someone who has had incredible fortune in life takes that good fortune and gives back to the less fortunate, I think that’s something to celebrate.

Sometimes we look at successful systems and think to our selves that these plat forms were developed over night, not realizing that in some instances it is the handy work of decades even generations some who never even had the opportunity to see the success. Congratulate a good thing and support it for there is a due reward.

He really sets the standards for SO MANY people, on and specially off the court. The blueprint. You can see LeBron never really left Cleveland, and Cleveland definetly never left him. This kind of work don't get talked about enough, great take.

I found the attitude of the school board difficult to believe. The school has managed to stop it's students falling any further behind which is a huge achievement in that setting, and children are progressing to high school. This charity is tackling disadvantage from every direction and they will see change over time. This was such an inspiring story!

Considering how much of a personal fortune LeBron has amassed, it’s pretty impressive how much he has given back to his hometown. He seems to be doing more than trying to be good role model. He’s also trying to do actual good deeds for others.

I am from India, and I love LeBron James, not for his basketball skills, but for his humanity. I wish Indian cricket stars had one-hundredth of LeBron's sense of purpose and generosity of spirit. America is fortunate to have beautiful humans like LeBron. P.S. Thank You, foreign correspondent, for covering news that the world should be watching, and hearing.

Any one that knows how the US Gov works will not be surprised with this. The curriculum being taught is set by the US gov and the teachers came from the same system and now that same system is blaming someone else for its mistakes. Typical US policy.

It’s beyond admirable what his foundation is doing. Those children who attend the public I Promise School are already behind their peers in math, reading and science, thusly that’s why it’s a lottery system. To expect them to catch-up in five years is insane. If you’re on a first grade level yet you’re technically in the 3rd grade, is it reasonable to expect them to be on an 8th grade level in 5 years? 1st to 8th in 5 years… Let that sink in… I understand if these are gifted kids at a magnet or STEM school, then yes, going up several grade levels is highly likely.. But to expect children in the bottom percentile, devoid of the basic skills, to “Catch Up” 2 grade levels is missing the point entirely. That’s exactly what passing a standardized test does. It’s not a good way of measuring them against the benchmarks since they’ve already started from the rear.
@naomiwickham395 Жыл бұрын
The majority of those children need lots of social, emotional and physical development before they are even able to absorb reading, writing and mathematical strategies. USA should be proud of such a giving athlete❤

This is how news should be reported. A reporter goes and investigates. It looks like the impact is immense. The test scores most likely highlight where the families are starting from. Hopefully as the support system for families strengthens - "it takes a village " - and turnover of principals reduces, the test scores will improve.

I think what the school board failed to understand is that most of the students at the school come from some craziness at the home front. So you combine whatever volatility and traumas are being experienced at home with trying to ace MATH or whatever then it becomes easy to understand. Lastly piggybacking on what the young gentleman said at the end, everybody learns at different paces. I was never a Lebron fan, however im rooting for him with his I Promise mission.

There's better educators and school leaders that can stick and stay for the long term and help with academic excellence. They are just not in the current orbit. As a former school executive I have wisdom to share. Emotions don't change grades or keep principals long term. Solid plans and willingness to see beyond your orbit and bring in new partners who are proven with best practices and intelligence over emotions equals more student success.
